48v hub drive bike - (not UK legal)

I have spent several years riding hub bikes off road also included a bbs01 mid motor which proved less reliable then the hub bikes. I have yet to have a hub motor fail but have had a controller issue with thermal cut outs, the BBS controller when it fials can be very unpredictable before it...

Broke connector between handlebar display to controller (Pinacle Mercury)

8fun is a Bafang brand name so the connectors will be Higo type, only Bafang parts will work. The EB-bus is used on the BBSHD and other Bafang oem systems . It will depend if Evans use a customer custom firmware or the std Bafang software.

Broke connector between handlebar display to controller (Pinacle Mercury)

Show some pics . EB-bus is a bafang system afaik and one may be lucky to get a third party replacement , though evans is likely your best bet . It will depend on the firmware and if they use differing firmware.

    Which ebike to choose?!

To compare differing drives you have to compare like for like so power /wattage output needs to be very similar . To evaluate both one has to use them to compare rather then assume from hearsay.

Broke connector between handlebar display to controller (Pinacle Mercury)

You are stuck with Evans back up for this repair as the bike has EB-BUS /CANbus type hand shaking, CANbus type systems are anti third party repair so one is locked in to a dealer to even be able to get parts.

Storing battery outside in winter - what insulation?

There s a lot of scare mongering that goes on regarding batteries and tbh quite a lot of dribble posted with in this forum. Keep it simple and keeping batteries indoors is safe. Charge only when a wake and where you can monitor /keep an eye on the charging process. DO NOT leave to charge...

Storing battery outside in winter - what insulation?

I believe so, though they will charge to full voltage that voltage doesn't mean that full capacity has been accepted so one could expect to have less range.

Storing battery outside in winter - what insulation?

For condensation one will need ventilation at opposite quarters one vent low down and another higher up but opposite it.

Help! Recommend me a front hub motor

BBTS needs a specific controller , one can't for instance use a std KT model. Personally it boils down in my view to the riding style and ride you want, if you like the performance and extra rider input then the TSDZ is ideal, for just pootling around locally on errands or commuting then the...

Safe cycle routes. Are there any really?

I doubt the insurance will cover any self build e bike, they will always try and find/wriggle out of any suspect case.

Safe cycle routes. Are there any really?

There are very few cycle only routes , most are quiet byways/old railway routes for multiuse that prohibits motor vehicles so one has to expect ramblers/walkers/dogs/equines etc,etc and ride accordingly . If you want to ride fast without care then join the roads with the other idiots. For quiet...

    julet cable

It's surprising how tight the consealed screw joint is , I used and old bit of strong ali as a bar with a radius in it to get around the axle. Use two of the clutch pre tapped holes and it shoud budge much easier(normal A/C/W opening), I used a club hammer wider contact area and simply gave...

Help! Recommend me a front hub motor

If no serious hills then yes I can recommend the Bafang g370 but there are cons and pros with it. My one has towed my 100kg laiden trailer with no problem (and even managed 0ver 125kg once) , though the route is the flat Worth way route the only real incline I have is in the local village...

    Hi just joined

Gears first check cable for any slack , if adajustment can't take up the slack then one will have to take up the slack via the derailleur cable tightning screw. Battery one expects one is available but as mentioned replacing the electronics with KT controller and display may be better in the...
