Which is more ethical - Woosh or Cyclotrocity?

The bike runs on a ready made motor wheel at the moment. I still have the original rear wheel, will test the bike with a woosh GSM next then decide. Both systems are street legal 250W but with plenty of torque. I have the impression that the SWX02 is quieter.

Which is more ethical - Woosh or Cyclotrocity?

the motor is on the rear wheel, it's not too bad looking but the HL battery on the downtube says loudly 'electric'.

Which is more ethical - Woosh or Cyclotrocity?

I am with anotherkiwi on this. I recently bought a Giant Defy 5 for £293 after reading a post from yamdude. The bike weighs 10.2 kgs as delivered. I put a relatively lightweight conversion kit on it, a SWX02 rear hub motor (3.3kgs), a 13AH downtube battery with integrated 18A Lishui...

Bike wont go Faster Than 20mph on down hill.

that bike has a DD motor. The cogging of the motor slows it down a bit like flecc said. Still, if you are on a steep descent, I would still expect to see it go a bit faster than 15mph, possibly 22-23mph.

For Forks sake, I need help!

Mercedes don't do suspension seat posts. They wouldn't go with the colour scheme and will marr the look. Smart ebiker would rather add 2kgs of extra smart metal.

For Forks sake, I need help!

your fork looks like a standard Rockshox Dart 2. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/181933776197 It's not difficult to do it yourself but you'll need the right tools. LBSes will probably charge you £30-£40 to fit it. It will void your Mercedes guarantee though.

What advance in bicycle technology has impressed you the most?

on the face of it, the Smart should have been a resounding success. It's designed by a very well known company and backed by a very successful distribution network, sleek advertising. So why did they see the need to cut the price from £2,500 to £1,800? the truth is, it's not as successful as it...

Electric Bike Kits Posted in the right place

They can paint the bike to your colours. This one isn't so loud. There are a lot of impressive features about this bike: dual front hydraulic brakes, road legal mode, pedal assist mode and of course power mode. Do you know you can buy the frame from China for $500 if you fancy building one...

Electric Bike Kits Posted in the right place

I haven't built DD bikes myself so don't feel qualified to advise you where to get your kit. I have however seen a greyp at woosh in Southend, in for some repair. I wouldn't want to buy such a bike but it seems competent enough to make a pretty good impression on me, performance-wise. BTW...

Electric Bike Kits Posted in the right place

why don't you release the characteristics of the Heinzmann kits to the forum? The point I try to make is, by using a 5:1 gearbox, you can spin the motor 5 times faster than the wheel and gain 5 times more torque than using the same motor as direct drive. The fact that the gearbox solves also the...

Electric Bike Kits Posted in the right place

@Dill you seem to have romantic ideas about direct drive kits. Yes, they are very stealthy, can go very fast and are very durable but at the detriment of a lot of other aspects. They are heavy, have much less torque and drag a bit making hill climbing and pedalling without power very unpleasant...

    King meter error 25

Error 25 means brake sensor is activated. If you squeeze one of the brake levers and switch on the LCD, it will show error 25 as part of its startup self diagnostics. Release the brake levers and the error should go away. Try that with one lever at a time to determine which lever is the cause...

    Hub Gears

the 8-speed Nexus Premium is just as good as Alfine-8, the difference is in the brakes. Only Alfine supports disc brakes. You have to have Nexus rollerbrakes with Nexus 3,7 or 8. Shimano charge OEMs a lot more for Alfine 8, that's why Chinese bikes can only have Nexus 3 or Nexus 7. If I had to...

    Have I missed anything?

you've gone that far to find out about e-bikes. Have you tried a crank drive bike yet? if you haven't, perhaps you should before hitting that buy button. The bikes you are buying are fairly common garden.

    Hub Gears

no, the normal BB shell is strong enough. The crank motors tend to be a little heavier than hub motors. Most weigh in about 4kgs to 4.5kgs.
