Bike for fairly fit 75 year old woman wanting assistance on hills

IMHO your mother should not buy a TS bike. At her age, she may run out of steam without much of a warning. A throttle is also a desirable backup and will help her keeping to the same cadence.

    Battery piggy back

you can only do this with two batteries with the same number of cells in their string, that's 13S. You best bet is to get a second battery.

that's the Shimano unit, most seasoned pedelecers would come to the same conclusion. How about taking on the likes of Bafang Maxdrive, Dapu and Shengyi.

I wonder why Mr Ching has still not made a crank drive bike. With his experience and resource, he would have given Bosch a good challenge.

So it's back to being a pedelec owner...

it all seems straightforward, the only thing that comes to mind is that you are going to lose the full size chain guard. Everything else, motor, battery, sensored brake levers are OK. The thumb throttle will have to be on the left and there seems to be plenty of room for the 800S LCD in the...

    Hi

Welcome to the forum, Roy. It's very difficult to get a number plate for a low power moped. This section of the forum is not the best place to ask questions. You should start a new thread here: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/forums/electric-bike-conversion-kits.42/

    Krieger vs Zephyr-B

I don't think Hatti feels the need to push her bikes here. A lot of members have bought her bikes and post frequently anyway.

    Quietest conversion kit?

the OP wants a quiet bike with a twist grip throttle, large wheels, in a low step frame and with a large capacity battery. That would be the woosh Santana CDL. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?santana-cdl

    Krieger vs Zephyr-B

she's probably too busy packing her bikes right now. Personally, I thought it's a storm in a teacup. The OP may just want KD to say sorry.

    Derestricting Sirocco CDL

you may need a new sensor head, they are less than a fiver each. They have always worked for me at about 1cm.

    Derestricting Sirocco CDL

warwick, try putting a rubber wedge between the speed sensor and the chainstay to bring the sensor head nearer to your magnet. You need a gap less than 1cm for it to work.

Whoosh Big Bear 15ah battery Bafang motor.

I did not know this but reading the advert of that 'just out of the box' second hand Big Bear LS, you can buy a new one year guarantee for it directly from woosh. For all intent and purpose, that's equivalent to getting a new bike. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?secondhand

    Has anyone come across 'add-e'?

    I also had a 1966 Velosolex until I bought my first 2CV.

    Has anyone come across 'add-e'?

The Add-E is a very interesting development. Not much real user feedback, just information released by the company. In time, it will surely develop. At the moment, I can see that the company has not answered some of the questions raised in various forums: safety of the proposed Hobby King Lipo...

Can you retrofit a throttle to ebike?

Most bikes simply do not have throttle input on their controller. To add a throttle, you will have to change the controller. You also need to get the right throttle for it and do you have space on the handlebars to fit it? would it foul against the gear shifter? would it look right?
