    Transport plan? What transport plan?

Though his dates are very premature, that politician is absolutely right. Both car ownership and use will be much more expensive and restricted in future, a process that has started already. ,

    LEF ebike/microcar

Yes, the Twingo has had many favourable reviews here, popular with our motoring press too. An e-Twingo sounds attractive, but a pity its so expensive now. €23k in France, €28k in Germany. Too much for only 60 mile practical range in cold weather. Renault went too far with the Twizy's small...

    LEF ebike/microcar

We've already had that, the Renault Twizy: But discontinued since it didn't sell well enough. .

    LEF ebike/microcar

No, the long established Cab bike is just that, a pedalled Velomobile. The Dutch one is a fully electric car, no pedalling. But no use here of course, not allowed on any cyclepaths and likely to be a nuisance in the road mixed with 30 mph town traffic. .

    "70 Times Faster-charging"

Cooling and heating circuits on Li-ion are largely unnecessary. That's why my latest Nissan Leaf series did away with them, increasing their range most of each year. Their battery heating circuit on the previous Leaf didn't cut in until temperatures were far lower than we usually experience...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Once again the confusion of vehicle with cars. As I've already been pointing out, I am posting about private car ownership and use. Bloomberg's and similar reports are about vehicles, there's a big difference. Vans and company cars used mainly or entirely for work are already switching over...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The essence of my argument about future car ownership, these solutions will only be for the moneyed, like the Porsche fuel for ics mentioned further down. Mostly pie in the sky anyway, we've had LiFePO4 for many years and it's only better in environmental terms in some applications. IC will...

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

As John has said in this post, to which I add that there is already a large lithium battery recycling plant in Belgium to extract the lithium and more are planned. But of course it's early days yet since the car batteries have been lasting for ten years or more and then living on in the other...

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

Indeed and what I've been posting about, deliberately moving e-cars into the luxury market to improve the industry's very poor profitability. Even Nissan too, ending the Leaf next year with its replacement, the Ariya SUV starting at £10 k dearer. Among all the manufacturers only Renault seem...

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

Not that bad. My 15 foot long 2018 Nissan Leaf, if an IC car would weigh circa 1.3 tons. As an e-car it weighs barely over 1.5 tons. That is because like all e-cars, considerable efforts have been made to lighten the whole design to compensate for the battery weight. Another of the very...

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

Oh dear, Tesla and BMW. Talk about asking for it! I wouldn't buy either make. Any other make than Tesla and you can get a home charger installed immediately, even with a choice of charger makes and types. It doesn't matter that modern EV's are very complex when they don't go wrong. You can...

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

So what? In 200 miles you will have passed a number of rapid and ultra rapid charge points. Once again an invalid objection. Agreed and precisely my argument. As the ic car irreplaceably bites the dust, you'll either be without a car or somehow affording an e-car. .

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

True, but the improvement rate as I've shown is far more rapid than generally appreciated. Agreed, though again more is being done about this than is widely known. Such things as many thousands of lamp post chargers already in place and existing local fuel stations converting to mass e-car...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

As the Daleks would have it, "Resistance is futile". I'm glad I am the age I am. Knowing what I now know I would hate to be facing most of life from this point in time. I'm fortunate that my life has spanned a period of near constant lifestyle improvements, developments and interest, vastly...

Not a proper e-car though, just another Prius type hybrid with very low electric power. .

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

It does and has been clearly shown to be so. In the earlier days of EVs, opponents in the motor industry and elsewhere made lots of false claims against them with spurious statistics, all completely disproved since. However, personally I'm not concerned if it does or not. The first thing that...

Comment on another sad e-scooter death

Nice try! ;) But e-cars are the answer, not only no exhaust pollution but the least stressful of any driving I've ever done in my 70 years behind the wheel. Daft though it might sound, I actually enjoy traffic and lots of pedestrians wandering aimlessly in the road, stopping for the latter...

    Transport plan? What transport plan?

I strongly disagree on the basis of far more substantial history than that of computing. Some 120 years ago with the advent of road going e-vehicles there was a desperate need for better batteries than lead-acid. But it took all that time before we've finally got them, though still barely...

    Chrisrmas presents?

Ditto. Xmas, Black Friday, Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Halloween, Easter are all just commercial rackets, as even Guy Fawkes Day was becoming some years ago before people got their fingers burnt, literally. My car is safely locked away in the garage and won't see the light of day again until...
