    Bike of the future.

You may find 16ah doesn't quite cut it for a day ride. With that in mind, I would suggest a bike which you can get with a large battery and a smaller spare. Something like 15ah and 10ah. This would give you capacity options which you can select for how far you intend to go. I think Cyclezee...

    Puncture repair?

It's very easy to accidentally squeeze the brake lever, particularly if you have the bike upside down. Quality bikes (!) like my Rose come with a bit of plastic to shove between the pads when the wheel is out. If you don't have the Magura Transport Device, a bit of folded cereal packet will do...

    German/Austrian v Chinese manufactured e-bikes

The KTM Force is keenly priced, but some other KTMs are not. There are a couple of naked Bosch mountain bikes on the website for £2,600 - seems a lot to me. The Panasonic hard tails are slightly better value at £2,150, but that's still no bargain for a hub bike. Oxygen's Chinese £1,700 hub...

Also looking to commute in London - different parameters

I think James is winding us up - again. Naughty boy. Pity, because the Rotwild bikes on his website are a bit different and look to be excellent quality. http://justebikes.co.uk/shop/rotwild/

Need an e bike for commuting in London

The 9ah battery on the Upstart is not really big enough for your 30 mile commute, particularly as you plan to crack on. Factor in inevitable capacity decline over a couple of years and you really will be struggling.

    Extra Special Offer From Cyclezee

Nice to see another retailer offering Kalkhoff. I have nothing against 50 Cycles and have pointed lots of people in their direction. But a bit of competition is healthy, and usually leads to lower prices for the consumer.

Kalkhoff Pro Connect Impulse 10 2015 Review

Could be a wise move on the Stromer. Much as I like the look and spec of the bike, it does appear they have quite a lot of reliability problems.

A working dongle - at last

Quite. What's the point of pratting around with some dodgy ebay seller when the Badass product and service is so good?

Need an e bike for commuting in London

The Oxygen MTB is an excellent tool, but would need commuterising - rack, mudguards, lights. Their Emate City has all these things, and a throttle, and it's very easy to, er, alter the 15mph cut off speed. The battery behind the seatpost makes for a longer wheelbase and a good ride, although...

Bosch Nyon Issues?. New substantial update: Jan 2015

Fair play to Martin for keeping everyone up to speed, but this is very poor from Bosch. It's obvious the original Nyon was no more than a bug ridden test bed. Bosch should have paid customers to find all the problems, not charged them. It's called product development, Bosch should be doing...

Trying to find an 8 speed chain for a crank drive motor.

Are you sure you need a longer chain? The drive does not dictate the chain length, that tends to be the battery position. Behind the seat post lengthens the wheelbase, which in turn calls for a longer chain. What sort of bike is it?

On balance, I prefer Schrader because they are more idiot proof on the road, particularly if you have cold hands. Schrader also means you can use garage airlines or a passing motorist's 12v inflator. I believe Woods can be inflated with an ordinary pump, but I'm not sure which valve type you need.

Staiger SinusBt80 or Haibike rx Trekking???

Spec looks similar to me, both typical good quality German trekking. The Haibike is a kilo heavier, probably due to the extra gears. Both have the performance motor, which lessens the need for the extra range of 27 speeds. I think it comes down to looks and price, the Staiger is an...

Only someone who nose what they are doing could give advice on a bike called Sinus.

    The Ultimate Road E-Bike

In the interests of accuracy. Looks like those trick wheels are about £2,500 to buy retail, and the electronic groupset is another £1K. Adding those to my notional ultimate kit bike would up the parts budget to nearer £5K.

Nice bike, Des. A refinement I would make is get rid of the awkward Woods valves. They are a nuisance to inflate - it's not easy to check pressures - and if you have to change a tube, you will struggle to get a Woods one, so will end up with a mixture. Borrowing a pump, which we've all had to...

    The Ultimate Road E-Bike

Not really. A modern Micra is nicely built, and in any event that would depend on the builder. You and I both know there are people on here who can build to factory quality. As regards the components, many could be identical/superior - fork, tyres, groupset. The wheels is an interesting one...

That quote should read: "None of the crank drives I sell do." Trying to flog your stuff is fine, misleading a punter is not.

    The Ultimate Road E-Bike

Certainly the ultimate price. Haibike really are taking the wotsit when you realise you can buy a full sus carbon frame for £700. A £750 crank drive kit and battery will blow the Bosch system out of the water. Another grand or so for good quality wheels, tyres, and finishing kit, £500 for...
