What will be the next major step forward

Lighter, more powerful batteries would be top of my wish list, but it's not going to happen soon. Lead acid was invented 200 years ago and is still the only way to start millions and millions of internal combustion engine vehicles. I believe I will be either dead or too infirm to cycle before...

Haibike sDuro Yamaha powered 2015 eBike range revealed!

My remark was hardly shooting something down, and it's only a ruddy bike, no children were harmed in the making of my post. Touchy retailers aside, the fact remains only three levels of assist looks a bit limiting to me for trekking/road use. Apart from anything else, three levels will limit...

Haibike sDuro Yamaha powered 2015 eBike range revealed!

Dragging this back on topic, I see the Yamaha system has only three assist levels. That's one or two too few for me. If I imagine a Bosch bike with only three levels, the difference between them would be too great for general riding. Might be OK for extreme mountain biking where the rider is...

    Advice on Short-ish commute bike

Seven miles each way is doable on any ebike with a 10ah or larger battery, so you have lots of choice. As regards recharging, batteries work and last much better if they are used full rather than empty, so you would be wise to recharge each day. You will need a rack, mudguards and lights for...

Can landowners restrict usage of public rights of way

You mention going through a car park to get to the disputed track. The car park likely belongs to the golf club and if they want to stop you using the track, they might try to achieve that by stopping you going through the car park. In theory, they could ban you from the car park, but even...

Hybrid Mudguards and Rear Pannier Racks?

The close fitting full mudguards on the Rose are a mixed blessing in that they work well in rain, but the tiniest bit of mud clogs them. Something like the guards in Dave's pic are probably a good compromise between fit and clearance.

    Great Customer Service From Woosh

Stop blathering on about defamation, it just makes you appear stupid as well as unreasonable. Your dispute with woosh is pathetically trivial and you've aired it on here at length. Do us all a favour - drop it, try to grow up a bit and move on.

Do I need three batteries, or only two?

I was doing some 'resting' by standing on the pedals in the last few miles. The cycle path into York from the north is quite bumpy which didn't assist. No seating problems the next day, but no cycling either.

2013 ave xh5 with tunning dongle and uprated gearing for sale as new

Thanks. My ebay search only looked at bikes in the £1,500 price range which is why I didn't find it. The bike is in Northern Ireland so that kills it for me.

    Commute realistic?

I'm not keen on hooded capes, they restrict sideways visibility too much. Impossible to do an over-the-shoulder safety check, which is vital on a commute.

    Commute realistic?

I wonder if cape hostility is due to fear of the thing blowing inside out and causing a fall. Those of us who have used capes know this doesn't happen, but before I used one I thought it would happen.

    Kalkhoff Sahel Premium i360 Harmony

A couple of posters on here are talking about getting 'bike fit', not just getting a workout. The torque sensor bikes are a better tool for improving bike fitness, but willpower is still needed. It is also a very slow process. Despite doing lots of miles on my Bosch bikes, my bike fitness has...

50 Mile round trip commute, feasible or not?

Julie, You have certainly identified one of the big pluses of a crank drive bike. Either side of the bottom bracket, they are an ordinary bicycle. Which, as you say, is a big benefit from a care and maintenance point of view.

Do I need three batteries, or only two?

York ride completed today - just over 86 miles. I think I am more tired than I have ever been after a ride, so it was quite tough despite being relatively flat. Battery consumption was roughly as predicted, the climbs on the ride are nearly all in the first half so I changed batteries about...

    Woosh Santana CDL

You can get one piece panniers, linked by a piece of fabric which will sit over the battery, some have a third top compartment as well. Means you always have to deploy the full set, but they do go some way to hiding the battery - if that's important to you. As regards lights, dynamos are good...
