    Woosh Customer Service

Andy has exercised his consumer sovreignty and bought elsewhere - fair enough. But if he strikes bike companies off on the strength of one unresponded to email he will sharp run out of companies. The bicycle business has always been a bit cranky when it comes to customer service. I've found...

61, Over weight and Unfit from South Wales :)

Any ebike should carry your weight. The more you pay, the better components you will get, and better also means stronger - to a degree. Hub motor ebikes put more strain on the spokes, so you might be better off with a crank drive. An 11 mile round trip is not far, so a 10ah battery will be...

    Woosh Customer Service

There was some American research done a few years ago in which tens of thousands of letters and emails were sent and monitored. A handful of both failed to arrive. The conclusion was that email is approximately as reliable as the post - nearly everything gets there, but some things do not.

    Woosh Customer Service

Tubamanandy had one email go unanswered. Within 90 minutes of posting on the forum, he had the undivided attention of the gaffer at Woosh. Is their customer service normally this good?

    The dongle re-visited

Shemozzle, I have not predicted any slap on the wrist or criminal proceedings. Make inaccurate posts by all means, but try to direct them at the correct member.

    The dongle re-visited

This is no more than scaremongering. Who is going to rebuild the smashed bike, test it, discover it's illegal and then go to all the bother of attempting to establish a reverse liability? It's just not going to happen, there are far too many hurdles at every stage. If the dongle is broken or...

    The dongle re-visited

Steady on, Tom, I bought a dongle, I didn't rape a child. Although I suppose I could wipe one out as I propel the Rose at a whopping 20mph.

    The dongle re-visited

I grasp that illegal is illegal, but the Bosch dongle has a comparatively weedy impact on the speed of the bike. I wouldn't want a member on here to buy one thinking it will turn their bike into a road rocket - it won't. My Rose is not a quick bike anyway, but even dongled it needs a fair bit...

why are non cyclists not interested?

It's similar to the National Lottery argument. The chances of me winning are tiny, yet somebody wins every week.

    Zoom mechanical disc brake question

Try lightly abrading the discs with emery cloth. Or an old mountain bikers' method, which is to deliberately smear the disc with mud and let the grit in the mud do the job.

    A hill to far!

I was surprised by the high level of fitness of the cycling group I now ride with most weekends. Most of them are 50 plus, some over 60, yet they can all chalk off a hilly 50 miler around County Durham without having to get off and push. They ride mountain/hybrids, so speed isn't their strong...

    To Kit Or To Woosh?

Average 20mph+ and arrive sweat free to me equals 'moped'. Even if you can manage it, hammering through London traffic at that speed on a bicycle increases the chances of an accident a great deal. If you can't beat 'em - and I don't think you can in this instance - it may be better to join them.

    To Kit Or To Woosh?

Pah, young guy like you - get out there and pedal.

    To Kit Or To Woosh?

Sirocco Sport has a younger look and is known to handle well. You are fairly light so probably don't need the extra grunt of the Big Bear. http://www.wooshbikes.co.uk/?sport-ts

KTM or Cube? Bosch or Panasonic?

A quick release is another consideration - if you buy a Bosch with a derailleur.

    Spare magnet?

After reading this thread I expect there are a few Bosch owners - like me - who will be giving their magnet fixing screw a tweak this weekend.

KTM or Cube? Bosch or Panasonic?

Riding on snow presumably means studded/winter tyres for some of the year. Crank drive will be better because changing the tyre on a hub is a fiddle, whatever the maker says.

    Which mini pump?

I have a Lezyne pump. dunno which model but it won't be a top one. It has a separate hose, which is better than the press-on ones because you don't get your fingers dirty wrapping them around the tyre and there's less chance of snapping a valve. I've only used it once, it did the job fine...

What has happened to the variety?

I recall seeing Haibike ebikes on Wiggle about a year ago, perhaps they took them off and have re-listed them. I have the impression ordinary cyclists tend to use the likes of Wiggle and Chain Reaction more for components and accessories. Bikes - of any type - are probably not big sellers for...
