    Anyone bought a Stromer ST2?

I was thinking the same, wasn't he in Scotland? Seem to recall he listed it in classifieds, although I had a search/look and have not been able to find it.

Do I need three batteries, or only two?

Don't fancy trying to pedal the Rose unassisted. I could experiment with eco setting, although the ride to York might not be the time to do it. I will be in a group who are unlikely to want to stop long enough or in the right place for a charge on the way. That would work on my own, not least...

Do I need three batteries, or only two?

I have my longest ride to date planned for next month - about 86 miles to York. The route from Sunderland is as easy as is possible to get in this lovely, but lumpy, country of ours. Tiny bit of climbing to start with, but then mostly downhill all the way. One battery won't do it, so the...

    Anyone bought a Stromer ST2?

The latest ones claim to have 814wh of power. Isn't that about the same as 20ah? If so, I suppose you could get 80 miles out of it in favourable-ish conditions with moderate use of the assistance - about 130km. http://www.stromerbike.com/en/int/e-bikes/stromer-st2

On mine the hole doesn't locate into anything on the base.

    work, leisure and fun!

Wherabouts in North Yorkshire are you? I have a static caravan near Bedale and did a fair bit of cycling chasing after the tour. The terrain around Leyburn/Masham is very hilly, nothing spectacular, but one sharp climb after another. I managed OK on my 20" wheel AVE/Bosch bike, which has...

    Intuvia without reset button

There's a small hole in the centre/back of my Intuvia display which looks like a screw hole, but isn't. I think that stands a chance of being a recessed reset button.

    'Bike' car

Ford C-Max might do it. You can remove the rear seats which I reckon would give a low enough floor to stand up a bike, especially a 26" one with not too big a frame. Upright driving position which may or may not suit, but the car itself handles a treat.

    Cheaper bike

Same applies to the Bosch system, changes are clunky on higher power settings so I tend to avoid doing them. Soft pedalling all other changes keeps the job right.

Bike and recommended stores in London...

For Kalkhoffs it's 50 Cycles or nothing. So that's a trip to Hampton if you can face hacking across - or around - town on public transport. Bonus is there's another retailer a few doors away. Riding an ebike on no assistance to improve fitness sounds a good idea, but doesn't work out well in...

    First Electric bike?

For a commute you will want mudguards and to carry stuff. The Big Bear has 'guards and a carrier, you could put both on another bike, but factory fit is best. The Big Bear also has a basic light set, you will probably want to add to that, but it's enough to get you started. I can't think of...

    Woosh Big Bear Chainring.

Two trained bike mechanics and lots of stuff on the web. Yes, you can fit an external bottom bracket without facing the frame and it will work for a time. But because the bearings rely on the frame faces being absolutely parallel to run true, if they are not there will be accelerated wear...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Presumably, rear suspension would have improved your chances of getting over the tree root and remaining upright.

    Woosh Big Bear Chainring.

Hollowtechs are deemed to be the best bottom brackets for performance and reliability. However, the frame will need to faced - engineering job - because if you fit a Hollowtech to a frame with slightly out of true faces, the bracket will run askew and not last long. A competent bike shop can...

    Woosh Big Bear Chainring.

Does the big cog on the new cassette have the same number of teeth? If not, you will also get a higher first gear, which may, or may not, be a problem for you.

    Riding on Air

Ride comfort is so personal, anyone should be wary of taking well-meaning but possibly non-applicable advice from others. With that caveat, I'm bound to say riding in jeans is reckoned to be a no-no. Denim doesn't breathe well, and the hard seams of jeans are reckoned to grind into one's skin...

Bike to suit me? - short, heavy and unconfident rider

Dave has it about right - a Brompton can be a bit wobbly and does need more care and experience to ride. But my 20" AVE is nice and stable. In fact, the smaller wheels - bags of toe clearance - and more direct steering make it, if anything, easier to ride than a big wheel bike. Perfect...

Hub motor? Bosch? Cough, splutter. At least it should be like proper cycling.
