In that case, make sure that you ask the supplier how long you can leave your battery 'to sleep'. The latest BMS (battery management systems) have a switch that switches off the BMS, allowing up to 6 month sleep without damage. Before leaving Spain, charge the battery to full and switch the...

    Best buy for around £500

I wouldn't worry about having problems with a cheap e-bike. The most important rule is 'use it or lose it' - all the cheap bikes do not have smart batteries that can look after themselves, so you need to ride regularly to keep the battery in good conditions. There are plenty of cheap bikes that...

for that price bracket, you'll probably be restricted to folding bikes. For full size bikes, check out the woosh Sirocco 36V 10AH battery, range 30-35 miles on a full charge, £585. It's been in the market for 5 years. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?sirocco

    Computer Scammers

I always use Microsoft remote desktop to hop to my home PC whenever I have to use my laptop on a public wifi. There are so many scammers about - their usual trick is to offer you a free wifi hot spot. At airports for example, it becomes difficult to work out which ones are genuinely free and...

Which motor/kit to get? Bafang CST or Xiongda? 36V or 48V?

they may be the same, but probably not set to the same limit. Lishui make their 1260 in 15A and 18A. I know this because it's fitted to the woosh Karoo.

Which motor/kit to get? Bafang CST or Xiongda? 36V or 48V?

I've tested quite a few combinations of motors and controllers, you need to push at least 800W through the controller to maintain 23-24mph even without headwinds. Can't do that with 15A. My guess is that Oxygen match 18A controller with the 13AH kit and 15A controller with the 11AH kit.

Which motor/kit to get? Bafang CST or Xiongda? 36V or 48V?

15A controller normally gives about 19-20mph. You'll need 20A controller to get 23-24mph with the SWX02.

    Need a good hill climber

for those of you who don't know about this very simple technique to interrupt the motor before changing gear, the technique consists of briefly blipping one of the two brake levers before one shifts to a low gear number like 3 or 2 or 1. You only need to slightly queeze the brake lever for about...

    Woosh CD Sport electric problem

it could well be that your battery is now rebalanced when it was at woosh and you don't need a new battery. Some batteries have their BMS powered by the first or the last cell on the 10S string. If you leave the battery switched on for a long period of time, the BMS continues to drain that cell...

would range suffer for more powerfull moter focus jafira impulse 2?

if you like the Uno and only want a bit more range, then changing the battery for a 15AH is a lot cheaper. The Vita Uno has the controller mounted on the seat post, not at the base of the battery, making it very easy to replace the battery on the downtube with a 15AH one, cost: about £300 from...

you should ask to borrow one of their batteries to test on your bike like I suggested. That way, you can find out if the rest of the bike is OK.

Help me understand my new ebike

I can't see much of a point fiting knobblies to e-bikes TBH. My point is skinny jets are not going to help the OP achieving higher speed, just more locking wheels and skids. I have MP+ 1.75" (touring) 43mm on my e-Specialized (with Tektro Auriga HDB) and skinny jets on my normal Trek (V brakes)...

Help me understand my new ebike

skidding on hills and emergency brakes. people ride e-bikes at considerably higher speed than with normal bikes, even with good brakes, you still need the large contact area between tyre rubber and road surface to brake. I think 1.75" tyres are a minimum. Personally, I believe that hub motors...

    More good news!

flow/semi-flow batteries may be important for grid storage but we won't see them on e-bikes because customers would not want to go back to heavy batteries.
