Right kit for Boardman Hybrid Team and 33 mile round hilly commute

the BBS01 is the easier to fit of the two. You can take your bike to Woosh in Southend, they'll charge about £50 to fit it for you.

    Sheared screw - help please!

Take a look at the broken bolt from the wheel side. If there is enough thread, you may just be able to use a 6mm bolt and turn it in gently from the wheel side, you may just get lucky, the new bolt is going to spin the broken bolt out for you. Don't use force, you may damage the thread. Another...

Where is the 2 speed hub motor?

I think the industry is quite conservative, for good reason. There are plenty of interesting motors but only 8-Fun have established a very good reliability record. My favorite at the moment is the bmsbattery's Q128H with two stage reducer, a cheap cousin of the Panasonic hub motor.

Right kit for Boardman Hybrid Team and 33 mile round hilly commute

I have Tektro Auriga HDB. I don't use the throttle and my motor is the least powerful of the range so I do not need brake switches. You can make your own HDB switch using one of the switches supplied with the kit or buy HDB sensors from Eclipse/Ebay for about £20 and bolt them on to your brake...

Right kit for Boardman Hybrid Team and 33 mile round hilly commute

I have the 250W, one of the first ever imported into the UK. Since then, there are 350W (nealh has one of those), 500W and 750W. The 750W is a bit overkill for Dartford to Croydon, you may attract unwanted attention. The 500W 48V is capable of 28-30mph, also overkill for city traffic. The 250W...

Right kit for Boardman Hybrid Team and 33 mile round hilly commute

The BBS01 kit with 15AH battery is a good match for your bike. I can easily hit 22-23mph with it. The kit is reliable. You may need to regrease it after 3000 miles. It's an easy 30 minute job. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?cdkit

    New Bike

woosh Big Bear (front BPM) or Krieger (crank drive). Don't worry too much about your height and weight. Both have chunky frame, 15AH battery and throttle. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?krieger http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?bigbear Crank drive Krieger:

    Legality of power ratings

They are labelled 500W, presumably 50% wasted in heat. Apparently you can now buy 8-Fun BBS01 on aliexpress without the 8-Fun marking. Those are obviously more legal than the ones marked as BBS02 36V 25A 500W

    New Cytronex Owner

It seems to me that the fault is in the friction clutch. you can take the motor to woosh inSouthend. They'll fix anything e-bike.

    Local Shop or Online?

often it's the other way round. If you have a faulty battery for example, getting it checked out or a replacement for it is quicker if you buy/deal directly with 50Cycles, one fewer link in the chain.

Hill climbing, short range, small frame

the Gallego has 15A Lishui controller and 8-Fun SWX front hub motor like the Woosh Sundowner but running on 16" wheels instead of 29". It is slower but much more capable hill climber than the Sundowner. motor on woosh Sundowner: motor on woosh Gallego:

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect. Impressive range.

three biggest advantages of hub drives are: low cost, light weight and independency from gear selection. Three biggest advantages of crank drive are electrical efficiency, superior water proofing and better heat dispersal. CD motors have the copper wires on the outside and run at around 3000 rpm.

    Kalkhoff Pro Connect. Impressive range.

if you had sent woosh a questionaire, they apparently sell as many hub driven bikes as crank drive bikes.

you can fold the bike and pull the battery out. the battery on its own weighs about 2kgs.

Hill climbing, short range, small frame

the woosh Gallego would do it. It's very light, probably the lightest folding bike on the market but you don't have to carry it, you can drag it up and down the stairs on its rack wheels. http://wooshbikes.co.uk/?gallego

    Am i being unreasonable

Avid BB7s are cable operated, not hydraulic. In China, the price difference between BB7 and Novela is about $20 each.

    Am i being unreasonable

I have used both. The braking power of cable operated disc brakes is roughly proportional to the size of the pads. The BB7 pads are about the same size as Tektro Auriga's - 25% larger than the Novela's. BB7's pads: Novela's pads:
