Prices of the electricity we use to charge

They are relative measurements. There are 30 El Niño recorded events, so it's not something new. I don't pay much attention to these events because it's difficult to separate local drivers from global observations. I don't care much for global warming anyway. These things will be sorted out soon...

It's not a theory, common sense will suffice to justify the observations. You can dig deeper into local variables but we are talking averages here.

most of the earth is covered in water. It follows from that where there are human habitation, it's going to warm up faster than the average.

interesting aricles. Biden has to spend some money in CCS technologies but the small amounts so far invested by private investors show clearly that the potential of on land CCS tech is quite small. The problem I see is not only the cost but the whole process of using lime to capture CO2...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Bbc news: Suella Braverman has been sacked. Just what she wanted but good riddance nonetheless. Gove should take her post. David Cameron has just walked through the door after James Cloverly. What post has he been given?

All of them are not complete theories. They are just suggestions or points of view. I don't pay much attention to them. Even our standard model of subatomic particles is not complete. Our understanding is fact based and as we find more facts, we understand better. It's only recently that we...

Symetry is a fundamental property of our universe but not in the way you explained. Matter and antimatter are not symetrical, at least in our region of space and spacetime. only a possibility but there is probably not such a mirrored version of everything. CERN has only recently created an...

why do you say that? temperature measured at sea level is usually higher than at the top of a mountain. Do you infer that the act of the measurement interferes with the rest of the universe?

you can't preselect the outcome (positive or negative spin of an electron for example) when you collapse the Schroedinger's wave function of a pair of entangled particles. The probability of one outcome out of two possible outcomes through observation remains the same, 50/50. All that it says is...

they may have done worse to their country than sea level but baring a micracle, their country will mostly disappear under the wave a century from now. The rise of sea level can't be stopped in that short time. I was a climate sceptic in the 80's, mainly from the basis that the earth receives...

the issue is the small window in time for those interested in fossil fuel consumption. Within the next hundred years, we would have the AI industrial revolution, thorium molten salt reactor and quite likely, nuclear fusion. Fossil oil burning will be a thing of the past but in the mean time...

that's the point. Paints for floors and external surfaces, anti-UV etc must have polyurethane, are oil based. You can replace polyurethane with epoxy resin but it's not anymore ecofriendly. I accept it's a weird idea to paint the rock face though. They should really think harder.

but you use the word 'cr*ppy' to describe the Lishui controller though. OEMs choose controllers based mainly on reliability. There are, I suspect, more bikes with Lishui controllers out there than KT's. Should their owners think they have a 'cr*ppy' controller?

so the local authority spent $60k painting the rock face of an old quarry to make it look nicer. Where is the harm in that? we spent £400 millions to run a mile of rail track to save 5% of travelling time. About the paint: it's the same type of paint people here use to paint over concrete.

that's the umpteenth time that you said the KT controller is better than the Lishui. You forget to mention also that most people with setting problems ask questions about how to set up their KT controller, nobody asks similar questions about how to set up their Lishui controller. There are a lot...

    Brompton motor thought

I tried spreading the Brompton fork before but gave up. There is a lot of skill involved to do that successfully. The fork is very, very stiff to start with, and there is always the risk that you bend one leg more than the other. Then there is the geometry how to mount the motor afterward. My...

Woosh BBTS 68mm kit starts shipping

Thank you Peter for the writeup. I have high hope that many of us will consider this torque sensor when they convert their next bike. I have been convinced for some time now that it's the best way to achieve the best balance between ride quality, energy efficiency, weight, cost and simplicity of...
