Does anyone know if UKIP's views are incompatible with forum membership? Thought I better check.

    Stephen Fry Gadget Man

No, I'm watching the original broadcast, it's just that the signal has only just reached the place where I live.

    Stephen Fry Gadget Man

Is anyone watching Stephen Fry and his gadgets on Channel 4? He's just tested something called a Tw@t's Bike, or was it a Yike, I can't remember. Anyway, why would someone go to the trouble of creating such a heap of $hit? It's just a stupid and ........stupid and stupid and stupid as well. The...

    Commuter Light Deal

That looks like a nice light. I'd be interested to hear what you think about it when you have it fitted.

    Commuter Light Deal

Yes, the T6 lights (Ebay) are a bit ugly, but if you need a powerful light for unlit lanes I think they are excellent. Like you say, these are probably not necessary in well lit urban areas. Wherever you are cycling, I think this light is worth considering for the rear. It certainly marks you...

    Commuter Light Deal

A good price for the Main set when you compare them with the Smart lights. However, I wouldn't bother with either now that Cree T6 LED lights complete with rechargeable battery packs are available for around £30. They give you so much more presence on the road. Well worth a few extra pounds...

    Gadget show testing e-bikes again

I think it's only fair to point out that the Neo needs a big motor because the motor is stuck in a single gear. For instance, my car would need a big thirsty engine if I only had 5th gear available. It's a brute force approach. I'm not knocking it, the brute force approach coupled with a big...

    Woosh/Funkylyn Collaboration......

Not only do you think that there are plenty of unisex bikes on the market, there actually is plenty on the market. Further to that, they are indeed sometimes refered to as step-throughs. The abundance of the unisex bike, or step-through, rather than a gender specific bike will be something to...

    Gadget show testing e-bikes again

Don't believe everything that you see on telly. The Gadget Show is pitched at the same level as X Factor and I'm a Celebraty, Get Me Out of Here. I own a crank driven bike and I know from first hand experience how well they climb, how kind they are to the transmission, how efficiently they...

    Woosh/Funkylyn Collaboration......

Fair enough, I'm quite happy to be proved wrong and I hope that the concept is successful.

    Woosh/Funkylyn Collaboration......

I'm not sure what the other non-comfort related factors are. Maybe the safety of cycling, perception that ebikes are male orientated gadgets, perception that ebikes require a higher level of technical expertise that are traditionally possessed by men. (Note that I have used the word perceived)...

    Brightest possible front light

I've ordered one of these. Couldn't resist it. However, I'm far too mean to pay the extra tenner for delivery, so will have to wait until early December to get my eager paws on it.

    Gadget show testing e-bikes again

The above is a highly misleading and totally untrue post based on little or no fact. Anyone considering a crank drive bike should ignore it and try one for themselves. I own a Kalkhoff and have done so for 4 1/2 years and close to 12000 miles. I'm not being, "protective" of my purchase...

    Woosh/Funkylyn Collaboration......

Just a thought. You have immediately cut your potential market size by 50%, maybe more because I would guess that most customers are male. I don't think that the lack of electric bike take up by female cyclists is anything to do with comfort. More to do with other non comfort related factors.

Be Seen - Stupid or not

I'd steer clear of these. They are likely to attract unwanted attention from middle aged men wearing tight leather trousers. Some of whom will invite you to chase them.

    Whats the Best Lubricant

I've used GT85 and other silicon based lubricants, various chain waxes designed for dry and wet weather, mineral oil, synthetic oil and grease. By far, the most effective and best all round lubricant is a pot of grease. If you are careful and put the grease into the chain links, it lubricates...

    Winter Gloves

I have been using Sealskinz gloves for the past few winters. They are a bit pricey, but completely waterproof, breathable, warm and don't make your hands sweaty. The knitted socks are just as good. It's just a pity that a seal had to die for the sake of my warm hands. ( It didn't. They contain...

    Initial thoughts on Ave XH-3

No they don't. The battery has a greater capacity than the standard 10 Ah 24 Volt Panasonic battery and that is good for over 50 miles. The more refined and superior crank drive systems use the energy available in the battery much more efficiently than the hub motors, hence the greater range...

    Initial thoughts on Ave XH-3

When I see and read reviews about bikes like these it really tempts me to go out and buy one. I've owned my Kalkhoff with its Panasonic drive for 4 1/2 years now and I am feeling a need for something different. There is something uniquely exciting about buying and owning a new bike. I think it...
