    2013 BH E-motion Neos

The bike looks great and probably performs well. However, as far as I am concerned, that frame integrated battery instantly makes the bike undesirable. The Panasonic and Bosch batteries, whilst being unique to their respective motors are used on an ever growing number of bikes from an ever...

    Liquid air, or hot air?

The main concern that I have regarding nuclear power is the French. As someone has already mentioned, the cost of decommissioning a nuclear power plant is massive. Additionally, EDF seem to be mentioned at the end of every sentence on the occaisions that I have heard officials talking about new...

    Liquid air, or hot air?

That's a tremendous sentence, it covers everything that's important. Seriously, I love it. You're the man neptune.

    Kalkhoff battery replacement

Presumably, there will be a guarantee with these batteries? It might be slightly more involved to sort out a claim, but it could be worth the risk. I have corresponded directly with Derby Cycles in the past over a warranty issue and they responded very favourably.

    Liquid air, or hot air?

Sometimes people need to be told what's best and have the solution imposed upon them. It isn't an ideal situation or one that I like, but future energy security isn't a subject in which we should involve technologicaly vacuum headed individuals. They can busy themselves with social engineering...

    Bargain Tonaros on Ebay

I know nothing about these bikes because, apart from a photograph, I have never seen one. But, £850 for a bike which receives universally favourable reviews from its owners has to be worth considering. Especially for those with a sub £1000 budget.

    Liquid air, or hot air?

I doubt that a beer keg would be able to store liquid air at vapour pressure, it would explode. This guy must have insulated the keg and allowed some of the liquid to, "boil off" thus reducing both the temperature of the liquid and the pressure. I'm not sure that your description of what would...

How difficult it is to detach, open and grease panasonic crank motor?

I think that motor precedes vaasa's. Its a nice find though and will probably be of interest to someone with one of the older Giant Lafree bikes.

How difficult it is to detach, open and grease panasonic crank motor?

This might be totally irrelevant but worth a try. I had a rubbing / binding noise coming from the area of the motor on my bike and I convinced myself that it was a bearing inside the motor case, particularly as it only happened with the motor switched on. I removed the plastic chain guard to...

    Running costs

I think that your figures are a bit optimistic Hatti and may be biased in favour of the ebike. Firstly the depreciation. For the daily slog of a 15 mile commute, I think that you need to be looking at a purchase price of around £1500, minimum, in order to achieve the quality of components...

    It had to happen...

Thanks Dave. I'll have a look on line when I get chance.

    It had to happen...

Are there any Bosch equipped bikes with Shimano hub gears? The only ones that I have seen have been derailleur equipped, which is a bit of a minus for me.

Regular exercise on an electric bike pays dividends

and if you can't manage all of that, there are some positives to dementia: 1) There are no repeats on television. 2) You make new friends every day.

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

I agree that its always worth trying a range of bikes, but as some have already said, they have either tired or owned high spec bikes but decided that something like a Tonaro fulfils their requirements. If the bike does what you need it to do and you are happy with the way it looks and rides...

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

OK. I like to think that I am open minded and receptive to other viewpoints and will accept, for the time being, that I may have lost the plot. Could you put me back on plot by explaining how the fact that a bike shop near to where you live sells a bike wheel costing more than a Tonaro...

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

Is the bike weight that important? Why are people talking in disparaging terms about Tonaro bikes because they weigh a few kilos more than bikes costing twice, sometimes three times as much? Take fabulously named Kalkhoff Pro Connect XTR S10 for instance, weighing in at a gossamer 22.8...

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

funkylyn, you must remember that certain members are like Marmite, some people hate them whilst others would prefer them on the end of a knife.

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

I think I need to try some of these newer systems. It sounds like things have moved on a lot since 2008.

What is the best legal crank drive bike available?

I haven't ridden a crank driven bike which is newer than my 2008 vintage, 26V Panasonic powered Kalkhoff Pro Connect, so can't say with any authority how it compares to the latest crank drives from Bosch, Panasonic or Kalkhoff. However, based on many thousands of, "old Panasonic" miles, I...

    Hi Vis with a difference?

Tesco sell high vis vests which are constructed from an open mesh type material which is very good for cooling on warm days. They are available in both orange and yellow. They aren't exactly, "cool" or inspirational and make the wearer look like a local council bin man, but they have a large...
