MTB or Hybrid with full throttle, up to £1500 ish, for short commute

some members can't stand the sound of chain mashing against the cog's teeth. I would have thought that the solution is to fit fast shifting short cage derailleurs and avoid anything bigger than 28T on the freewheel.

MTB or Hybrid with full throttle, up to £1500 ish, for short commute

that's why I thought the Big Bear is heavy and overkill. The Zephyr-B is light, powerful and folds. Piece of cake to chuck it in the back of a car and take it with you when you fancy a bit of hills or mud. It's well equiped without looking showy and still under a grand. It has the lightest...

MTB or Hybrid with full throttle, up to £1500 ish, for short commute

an expensive commuter bike is not a sensible solution. Unlike your weekend bike, you may not have the choice of parking the bike where you want, under a shelter. Then there is the risk of attracting thieves.

MTB or Hybrid with full throttle, up to £1500 ish, for short commute

for short commutes like yours, the woosh Zephyr-B may be better suited. It does not look electric, folds and has quick wheel release in the front, hydraulic brakes, all for under £1000. You can take it into trains. Range is same with all bikes with 10AH battery, about 30 miles on a full charge...

    Voltage Drop during battery discharge

No. LiFePO4 has lower voltage per cell, forcing you to carry 10% extra weight, making these batteries less (gravimetrically) efficient. Their flat discharge character also makes their battery meter a less reliable indicator. Their good points: very safe and can last a very long time.

    I've been STOLEN, AGAIN!! :(

you only need to put your battery in steel box, bolted to the bike and leave the bolts nuts to rust. The rust is an effective deterrent. Then put a rusty closed shackle padlock on it to deter the opportunistic thieves.

it's the other way round. Shops open up where they can find good local market. Most pockets of e-bikes are cities with hilly roads like Bristol and Bath, or with good biking infrastructure like Cambridge, Oxford and Southampton, or counties with hills like Devon, Cornwall, Wales. Because...

@KD Justin may want to come and tell you himself why he made his choice, I am sure if you know Hatti better, you'd know she would never use that kind of tactics.

if you want to continue pedalling while changing gear, dab one of the brake levers just before changing gear.

    I've been STOLEN, AGAIN!! :(

his pictures told the story. If you leave a big bag in a street in London without a visibly large chain and lock, you are asking for trouble.

the minimum stopping time is two magnet poles on the pedelec sensor for all e-bikes. For a 12 pole magnet disc, that is one sixth of 360 degrees or 60 degrees. For a typical 26" bike with BBS01/02 on 11T cog at the rear, travelling at 15.5mph, the bike will continue a further 4.6 metres on motor...

    Trying ebikes

We don't make e-bikes in the UK. The absence of indigenous producers leads to an under-developed local market. When one of the leading UK e-bike companies bites the bullet and invests enough resource to create a respected range of products that the world would want to buy, the local market will...

I think your Sonata will get noticed a lot more if you fit a 15AH battery to it.

you already have a geared motor on your Cyclamatic. Check for binding on the rear brakes first.

I believe that Chinese crank drives (BBS01/02) are best for long commutes. Take for example a Genesis Croix de fer and fit a BBS02 36V 25A 500W, 15AH bottle battery, you get the idea of how cheap you can make your own low maintenance quality bike for. Chinese crank drives are flexible and...

    Best security for bike?

you will have to also cut all the electrics before you can run away with the battery. then demolish the controller box. then attack the lock. Then whom are you going to sell the battery to? the victim? it's not like a Bosch or a Bionx battery that you can find buyers on ebay.

there is no option to set HVC. The following can be changed: Basic Basic is relatively self-explanatory. The Low Voltage protect and limit current (A) should not be changed. The PAS levels Limit Current (%) and Limit Speed (%) changes the amount of power and speed available in each PAS...

    Best security for bike?

You can't nick the Big Bear battery even with carbide drill bits. The locking pin is vertical, 10mm diameter in hardened steel, behind the lock body, about 5 cm inside the controller box. The locking plate is also hardened steel, perpendicular to the battery so from the side, you can't attack...

Just ordered a 750w BBS02, my first electric bike !

how hilly is your route? 48V 8AH should be enough for 14 hilly miles but I would go for 48V 11AH Lithium ion and save the bother with complicated charging.
