There should be a pressure range marked on the side of the tyre. The higher end of that range will give best puncture resistance, but a firmer ride, than the lower end.

    NuVinci CVT (Automatic Gears) Hub

Agreed. Neither a deraileur nor an Alfine change well under load. Never tried a NuVinci, but it looks like it might be able to do that. If so, it could be the deciding factor for JimB.

I've not noticed that. Giant is a proper bike manufacturer, so you are unlikely to go far wrong with one. I saw a Giant ebike step-through in a shop in Northallerton, north Yorks, the other day. Nice looking bike, basic kit, but appeared well made. Competitively priced at £999. For that you...

    KTM Macina Cross going cheap.

Try using a lower power setting and lower gears for climbing. Works quite well on my Rose/Bosch - your KTM will probably ride much the same. The 11ah battery is not cheap, 639Euro on this link although someone may know of a cheaper supplier: Google Translate

    Different style handlebars

The more the grip part of the bar is angled towards you, the harder it is to ride standing up. Not a problem for most ebike users, but worth bearing in mind if you like, as the roadies call it, honking. It's also important for MTB riders who tackle rough stuff out of the saddle, known as the...

    Kalkhoff Endeavour BS10 400Wh

If you do decide to buy one and ride illegally, take the number plate mount off the back. It's a dead giveaway and is bound to attract unwanted attention from the rozzers.

    Class as a cut up?

If it was a service bus, chances are it had several cameras running. I believe Arriva buses, as an example, have four or five outward facing cameras and about the same number pointing at the passenger compartment.

    Class as a cut up?

Bad driving. I would speculate the car driver either didn't see you, or did and managed to forget you were there when making the left turn. Or the ignorant sod just couldn't bear the thought of giving way/pulling in behind a cyclist. You could present the video to the police, but I'm afraid...

    Puncture Resistant - Puncture Proof

Wider tyres are more puncture resistant than narrow ones, at the expense of some rolling resistance. It's worth regularly going over the tyres with a stiff brush which will help remove bits of glass and flinty bits before they work their way in. If you can't be bothered to do that, at least...

    Thank you Kudos 4 Redbridge!

I was surprised by the number of bike makers who make an ebike of one description or another. Bianchi is a good example, associated over here with lightweight road bikes, they also offer an ebike: Bianchi - More than 125 years of history, international leadership

    Thank you Kudos 4 Redbridge!

Yes, as far as I know. They have an enormous shop at Rose HQ in Germany and trade online in other European countries.

Just to confuse matters even more, this table appears in the Bosch handbook supplied with my Rose snob bike:

    Thank you Kudos 4 Redbridge!

Just to add more confusion, I believe at one time Bosch did spec different max assist levels for hub or derailleur on the less powerful crank drive. This suggests there must have been two versions of the less powerful crank drive, or perhaps the same drive configured to offer either 200% or...

    Thank you Kudos 4 Redbridge!

There's some confusion about maximum assistance levels from the Bosch system. The latest factsheet from Bosch shows 200% available with hub or derailleur gears from the 'Cruise' unit - the 25km/h legal one. Assistance of 250% is available - derailleur gears only - from the 'Speed' unit -...

    My new bike

Yes, it's 17" frame, but the bike sits fairly high because of the large wheels and tyres. I'm just under 6ft with an inside leg of 29" - step over clearance is only just adequate, so a 19" would be much too big for me. One of the good things about the Bosch system is the power cuts in and out...

    My new bike

I read something about that a while ago. If I recall correctly, with a disc brake the quick release lever is supposed to be on the opposite side to the disc. Can't remember why.

    My new bike

Update, not least because I see a few members are thinking about buying a Rose. The good news from my point of view is there is not much news. The bike is still performing as it should and nothing has broken or fallen off. Battery life is about the same at 50 or so miles, so a few charge...
