    Marathon Plus surprise

Maybe discreetly was the wrong word to use. I was trying to convey that if i didn't know these were puncture proof tyres, then they don't massively standout as being so. I was expecting a 1cm think wedge of rubber to cope with the length of a nail, tack or large shard of glass.

Powacycle Salisbury at Makro on offer

For anyone with a Makro card, they've got the Salisbury on offer at £528.74 inc. VAT. Not sure if there are different versions of the Salisbury, but looks the same as the one on Powacycles website.

    Marathon Plus surprise

Firstly i must thank all of you who steered me away from buying polyurethane solid tyres ;) I went for the tyre of choice, the Schwalbe Marathon Plus for both front and rear. Got 2 for £39.99 with free post off eBay, which i thought was good value. £29.99 each in Halfords  What...

    My first puncture :(

Sorry guys and gals, i'm in no way trying to muscle in on years of experience. I did detect a slight hint of anger entering the thread  I do remember ye olde airless tyres made of solid rubber. Just thought technology might have moved on a bit to alleviate the ghastly ride they provided.

    My first puncture :(

I realise there will probably be a compromise somewhere with airless tyres, and not suitable for the hardcore bikers. For my needs though, it offers an ideal solution, and am prepared to accept small limitations to save having a puncture miles from home. I'm going to give these a try as they...

    My first puncture :(

Have sent an email to the company as there doesn't seem to be a way of ordering these online. I'm more than interested, for if they provide a good ride will prove to be very cost effective in the long term. No more punctures. Yippee :) Who knows, they may send me a freebie set to test ride...

    My first puncture :(

I was dreading my first puncture and today my nightmare came true. At first i thought that it might present a problem being on the rear hub motor wheel. Luckily it was easy enough to gain access to all of the inner tube without removing the wheel. It was still attached to the centre hub (if you...

    Good bike computer

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like most of you are happy with bike computers at the lower end of the price range. I'll check some of them out. Maybe i bought one that just didn't like my bike

    Good bike computer

I made the mistake of buying a cheapy (£10) wireless bike computer. After spending an afternoon trying to get the damn thing to work reliably, i threw it in the bin. I'd like some suggestions on a good quality bike computer for around the £30 mark, preferably no more. It doesn't need to have...

    Ping battery connections

Thanks Fecn. There's plenty of variables to think about plus terminology. Motor controller, sorry :o The whole electric bike kit/build/upgrade concept is indeed an exciting one. I'm sure the steep learning curve will level out eventually thanks to you knowledgeable guys :)

    Ping battery connections

Fecn, is it the motor regulator that determines the cutoff voltage to the motor? Also, if the Li-ion pack outputs 29.4v at it's peak, does this mean that most regulators can handle more power even though quoted at 24v? If yes, would fitting a 36v ping on the bike fry the regulator?

Thanks Herb, just the info i was after :)

    Ping battery connections

After researching battery technology, it seems LiFePO4, in the long term, is the best value for money for replacement packs. Although my Cyclamatic is powerful enough for my rides out and about, i feel that maybe in 6 months time the battery will not offer the capacity it has now. I ran out of...

Cyclamatic Power Plus Owners club (2)

Sorry, i forgot to ask if the battery to bike docking power connections are the same on these type of bikes. The bike has 2 prongs pointing upwards, which dock with the battery which has 2 female type slots. If i can't get an exact replacement, then i can use the existing docking base removed...

I suppose no matter how carefully i look after my battery, there will come a time when it will need replacing. I was having a gander around the web looking for a specific Cyclamatic battery replacement. I couldn't find a direct replacement made by Zhejiang Xinghai Energy Technology (Headway). In...

Moving on from the brake topic, but still in relation to the bike and in particular the battery. I'll be using the bike on a daily basis with around half discharges and topped up again after each ride. I've got the space and opportunity to store the battery in an airtight container in the fridge...

Cyclamatic Power Plus Owners club (2)

Thank you flecc for clarifying the different types. I think that the Cyclamatic must have gone through a slight change since the stock photo, as it definitely has the 'V' type shown in your second piccy. It's started to squeal  so i've ordered some new quality pads as i reckon the...

Please don't shoot me down in flames as i am fairly new to riding and owning a bike. Is the front brake on the Cyclamatic classed as a V brake system?

First impressions Just thought i'd write a few lines on my new Cyclamatic Power Plus MTB bike that i bought recently. SportsHQ delivered it promptly and it arrived undamaged. TNT delivery if i can remember correctly. It was packed in the box really well, with plenty of soft padding wrapped or...

    Servo brakes???

I'm expecting delivery of a Cyclamatic Power Plus bike soon. It's got servo brakes apparently. Could someone please explain in layman's terms how these type of brakes works please and are they any good?
