    Rules of riding on paths

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, the place i usually travel to involves a stretch of dual carriageway. No other realistic route there. Unless i fit a 100AH battery. It has a path running the length of it which doesn't really indicate whether it's pedestrain only or pedestrian/cyclist...

    Rules of riding on paths

I know it's naughty but sometimes i have to travel on a stretch of path or pedestrian walkway. Usually due to the road being too dangerous to travel on. Which side of the path should i be riding on and how should i pass other pedestrians and cyclists? It seems that nobody seems to follow any...

    YikeBike in the Sunday Times

On the official website they make some big claims. Some more believable than others. One is ' Thieves can get yiked ' It's my understanding they are implying that it's compact enough to take with you and not have to chain it to a lamp post. But whenever has that stopped the thieving toe rags...

    Cyclamatic Power Plus Owners club

Good thing with SportsHQ is that they always seem to have some kind of promotional discount on. I'm sure once you notice that the battery is not performing as it should, that a discount code will come along. Bought my bike with a 20% discount and also earned £17 in reward points off my next...

    Cyclamatic Power Plus Owners club

Thanks for the info Old Timer. When did you buy the battery? I e-mailed them recently and they weren't sure about obtaining the batteries. I assume that your wife's is the folder. Any idea if there's a difference between the folder battery and the MTB battery?

    Cyclamatic Power Plus Owners club

clckn2000, glad you like yer new bike. Firstly, it's unlikely that you will completely stop the front brake from squeaking. After a bit of detective work on mine, i found out that it's the suspension forks that resonate. This is probably due to the fact that they're not the best quality. I...

    Can i confirm something?

I found a user sheet for this type of analyzer for anyone thinking of fitting one: http://www.4-max.co.uk/pdf/GTP-wattmeter.pdf

    Can i confirm something?

I had already considered getting the Turnigy unit. Do they connect between battery and controller or controller and motor?

    Can i confirm something?

I would just like to confirm some facts before i get a bit too carried away and try something that might not work. At the moment my bike has: 24v motor 24v controller max output 14A Wuxing throttle and brake cutout levers 24v 9AH Li-ion battery Now the maximum amps that the controller...

    Spoke tension

I've noticed that there is a tiny bit of play in all the spokes of both wheels of my 26" 1.75's. Only 1mm deflection at most. Is this normal? Also how do i go about checking and tightning spoke tension? I should imagine every one needs to be tightened in one session or it'll pull the rim out...

    Clutching at straws for Cyclamatic?

It's the Power Plus MTB. No, the controller's not broken. I was considering a few things actually. Upgrading it with a model from the same family but able to provide slighty more amps than 14. A straight swap so i'm not messing about soldering different connectors on. Eventually connect a 9...

    Clutching at straws for Cyclamatic?

The controller is a seperate one housed in it's own aluminium box, just like the ones you see on eBay and the like. This itself is stored inside another casing on the bottom of the crank. It's all welded really well and looks pretty good for a cheap bike. The controller is removable, but i...

    Clutching at straws for Cyclamatic?

Thanks NRG. The battery on the bike at the moment is 9AH. Would i be able to use a 20AH with no problem? Will the 14A controller only draw a max of 14A or would a 20AH battery cause it to be damaged? I'm still a little confused with this amps business relating to bikes :o

    Clutching at straws for Cyclamatic?

I took a peek at the controller contained within a box under the crank. The box is welded as part of the frame and contains all the wiring too. I didn't expect it to be branded or anything special and i was right. It does have a label on it with some specs and a serial number. If anyone can...

Thanks for the replies NRG and mutmost. Do you think LiFePO4 batteries will always remain fairly expensive, or like most technology come down in price?

Powacycle Salisbury at Makro on offer

I think garagedood has made some very good points on why owning an electric bike is exciting for some. Yes you can buy a bike that makes your bank manager cry, has excellent customer support and the local bike shop will be happy to fix. But where's the fun in that! I knew when buying my...
