    Ping battery website or eBay?

Has anyone bought a Ping battery directly from his website? They are also available from him via eBay but are a little more expensive. Probably to offset eBay fees. Both ways of buying these batteries are payable with PayPal. I just wondered if going through eBay offered any extra buyer...

    Depth of discharge?

Please excuse me if this sounds like a Harry and Lloyd question. When people talk about depth of discharge for example 80%, does that mean 80% of power used or 80% remaining in the battery?

The youth of today aint so bad :)

flecc and cogs, you're both right. I've told myself a million times not to exaggerate :o When kids are kept occupied and active they're no trouble at all. As you say, just the bored unmotivated few that let the side down.

    How tough are wheels?

The max on the Marathon Plus is 70 psi. I inflate them to 65, but it's still unnerving as i'm expecting them to pop at that pressure.

The youth of today aint so bad :)

There was a break in the clouds today, so i thought i'd go for a quick spin up to Penshaw monument in Sunderland. Part of the journey is dual carriageway, so i rode on the path alongside for safety. On the way back, i saw a group of 15 or so young lads on various bikes, heading my way. The...

    Motor controller help

Ooooooh, thanks for the information NRG and no it's not too technical. I mistakenly thought LiFePO4s were 3.2v nominal. So they're not too dissimilar after all. Maybe i'm barking up the wrong tree and please correct me if i'm wrong. What would be better is to stick with 8 cell LiFePO4s but go...

    Motor controller help

So, going on the facts that my li-ion battery feeds 29.6v to the motor when fresh, i can assume that a 24v motor is capable of handling a little more than this top voltage? The reason i ask, is that when the current battery does finally not provide acceptable performance, i want to wire in a...

    Motor controller help

Could someone please confirm or correct me on a couple of points, reference the motor controller. 1) With a 24v battery, 24v motor and 20 amp motor controller, would that mean that the motor receives 480 watts of power maximum? 2) The voltage of a li-ion battery starts off at just over 29v when...

    How tough are wheels?

I always try to use a drop kerb but this isn't always an option. Am i risking buckling a wheel by riding up and down a right angle kerb, or are modern wheels pretty tough?

    Cyclamatic and Schwalbe M.P. tyres

Thank god for Schwalbe tyres :) First time was interesting and strangely fun, but i wouldn't want to tackle the rear on a weekly basis. Hope that didn't sound too rude

    Cyclamatic and Schwalbe M.P. tyres

*** If this has been covered loads of times in other threads, please delete *** I fitted my new Marathon Plus tyres today on a Cyclamatic Power Plus. Not all plain sailing, but i thought i would share my experience to help others who may be thinking of doing this. I did the front tyre first...

Powacycle Salisbury at Makro on offer

Sorry flecc, the snobbery comment was not aimed at you :o I've been a member of different club forums, mostly car, for many years now. Even though they are not run as model specfic clubs, usually under the broader manufacturer's name, i have noticed a common trait. There are always a...

Powacycle Salisbury at Makro on offer

I think that the cheap and cheerful meaning unreliability doesn't always ring true. Slightly off on a tangent, but still relevant, is when i bought a brand new Alfa Romeo 3.0 GTV many years ago. Cost me £24k, but as i was single then, cost wasn't a problem. For the price i expected reliability...

Powacycle Salisbury at Makro on offer

I fully agree that the Powacycle Salisbury probably isn't in the top 10 of best ebikes. To promote ebiking means to get people interested in the first place. I should imagine that most riders buying their first bike wont want to spend more than the £500-£600 mark. I for one was highly...
