Sorry to hear about all the troubles you've been having. On a positive note, it does mean that future buyers of Ping batteries know potential pitfalls. It won't stop me buying one, but i might mod the battery and BMS container to incorporate a fan. Probably a computer type fan to draw cool air...

Yep yer both correct. If the replacement battery bites the dust, then i'll replace it with a higher capacity Ping battery. Reckon the Cyclamatic battery is close to working at it's limit when tackling hills and there's a few around here.

Spoke too soon. Only got 2 miles out of it today before it died :( Battery voltage read 22v. Must have dropped below the controller limit. Oh well, those nice chaps at Sports HQ will sort it out. Their customer service is pretty good :)

Good news, i tested the battery pack again today and it's reading 29.6v again. Maybe the heat got to my brain yesterday when i tested it :o

The bikes performance doesn't seem to be affected, although haven't tested range yet. If it does have a dead cell, would this drag the performance of the other cells down or cause them to expire quicker? Is it still ok to charge the battery as normal?

No, i think it's an issue with motor drag as i totally loosened the rear brake and got the same problem. It's a pig to ride with no power :(
