    Battery life

For my moli cell battery I made this year for the UTE , 12s 8400mah the cells cost me approx. £128. The LFP cells below are £145 if genuine and would give me 44v/14s x 12000mah so better value for £££ ? But the unknown is I no little about LFP cell brands. The weight would have been by far...

    Battery care question

Cold generally doesn't damage batteries but charging in freezing cold means capacity isn't fully being accomplished dispite reaching max voltage. If the bike is new and you have the paperwork one would have thought key numbers should be available to get replacements, after all it is drummed...

    Battery life

One has to remember the charge and discharge voltage is totally different then li-on/Li-po but pretty much bullet proof safety wise.

    Battery life

Like for like LFP is approx. 2/3's lighter then SLA, but still some 25/ 30 % heavier then li-on or li-po. Some ebikes used them some 10 years ago but the weight was the factor adding at least an extra 6kg or so to a bikes weight , hence the move over to the less stable li-po and then the...

    Battery life

Before they ban bikes and other small EV's , how about a ban on EV cars then all our lives might be safer. Afaics the rush to rip off follks with expensive EV's is not the answer to our transport needs, some cars don't even need to be in use to be dangerous. A transporter in Notts on fire...

    Belt drive hybrid?

A reply to Mike as I have mentioned more in the other thread. Before buying which ever bike , think about how it will accommodate the size and sort of items you may need to carry, as mentioned a light weight trailer may be an option if the chosen bike isn't ideal for carrying larger items.

    Hello! (looking to buy soon)

The idea of wanting a belt drive e bike will almost likely be a proprietary made bike esp for a step thru so one should choose the brand carefully. As for the carrying of tools etc, etc, if only hand tools then panniers are the easy option but if wanting to carry longer tools like Hedge...

    Hello! (looking to buy soon)

For your proposed use a cargo bike or a trailer addition may be an option. One has to be carefull with some bikes that may use proprietary components or Can type communications , after a few years they may be expensive to repair if a fault occurs.

    Anti-slip tape

No reason not to try using anti slip tape if one can get a good adhesion the the drive surface. 3.5 years in now with my friction drive and not had the need to worry about extra traction or lack of it , but come the day if it arives I have a roll of anti slip spare to try as a replacement.

Swiss Flyer e bike, voltage unknown?

One would suspect it is a three phase BLDC type. One should be able to run it off a third party controller though if it also uses motor halls as well , there will be 36 wiring combo's to find the best one that will work. The othe rissue is 36v will involve the drive rpm to be higher then...

    tsdz2 no power on display

I simply use a washing up dish brush to brush off wet mud /dirt, then a damp soapy wet rag to clean things up finishing off with a wet oily rag . . WD40 is as good as anything for damping a rag and wiping over. Also I have got some scottlier 365 cleaner and muck off , they are snake oil...

    tsdz2 no power on display

The battery self test only tells you the battery has voltage internally it doesn't tell you anything coming out of it. Use a meter on the battery discharge port, set it to 200v dc and poke one probe each in to a different side of the port . When the display fails to sw on it is simply...

Swiss Flyer e bike, voltage unknown?

Due to the bike age and the smart handshaking the bike is a relic of early ebikes and likely for the cost of getting it running is a museum piece , if one had the original battery with the smart BMS it may be possible to get it re-celled with out bricking the BMS. The Swizz bee wasn't such a...

Swiss Flyer e bike, voltage unknown?

3.6v is associated with li-on as the nominal voltage and 3.7v is associated with li-po pouch cell nominal voltage . One expects the 26v battery was of pouch cell chemistry much the same as my Swizzbee was after the change over from Nimh cells, latterly the chem on my #1 bike was recelled with...

    Sparking when withdrawing the battery

Shorting shouldn't occur removing such battery unless the discharge contacts of the ali holder aren't inuslated very well against the holder. If it is down to moisture then ideally the ali holder should have drainage holes in the base. Sparks can be expected when fitting the battery (if no...
