    Batteries Charging Routine

You can pull enough to climb a small hill but not for long. On the flat, you can go up to 5-6 miles with that battery. In the previous post, I meant the Bosch battery adapter, not the Bosch battery.

this is the Bosch tool battery adapter I was going to use until they told me MOQ is 500:

    Batteries Charging Routine

not that I know of but then again, I have not searched the net for it in the last two years. This is my adapter which I 3D printed: I was going to use a ready made charger box similar to yours but they wanted me to buy at least 500 pcs so I designed my own.

For years now, they don't spark anymore. I'll make a video to show you later. Also, quality of connectors has improved over the year. I have not seen a single damaged charging socket in normal use.

Jacks are easy to use. My HP laptop has a 19.5V 45W charger and uses a jack. The current is about the same but such accident would not happen because I don't have a key for my laptop. An intelligent protection placed inside the BMS and the charger against reverse current is a better solution.

It's true. I agree that there should be reverse current protection. it's meant to run up to 2A-3A only.

I don't know why you think there will be a flash and bang when they pull the charging plug out. Where does that idea come from? Accidents happen when people don't look where they put their key in and forget to close the socket cover after they finished with charging or they absentmindedly put...

One of us did it to his HL battery last year. I took this picture for you. The socket is damaged here too but this time by a different route.

with a key, you get a big spark, a smell of burning and a blackened socket. Customers ring up. We ask for pictures and if we find any damaged plastic or pin, we retrieve the battery and replace the connector. It doesn't happen very often but still does now and then.

talk to Andy about it. He's the one who told me this morning because I asked him (what kind of faults did you see in recent years, did you rebalance a battery recently?) for this thread. I have not repaired any battery for years. The batteries we retire are simply old, not dead. I don't throw...

can you be a bit more precise? which manual are you looking at? There are dozens on the manual page.

    Batteries Charging Routine

they told us what happened, one moment of lapsed attention. There is a cover for the charging port but they forget to put the cap back now and then. They don't need a manual to use the key or to remove the battery, and each bike comes with already 4 manuals, I can't fix that with more manual.

It's a weakness in the design. The jack charging socket is placed on the opposite side of the keylock. People use the key to remove the battery and stick it in the charging socket instead. Big spark follows. Only 3 or 4 cases in the last 4 years. I will post a picture later.

the BBC is doing a substantial reportage of battery fires this morning. I think batteries and chargers will need certification soon. Even so, there are still millions upon millions of dodgy batteries and chargers out there.

well spotted. It needs to be pushed in about 3 more millimeters, until the lip of the top connector reaches the circle line on the bottom connector.

    Batteries Charging Routine

On my SANS charger, the voltage is 41.5V to 41.3V when charging is finished. I have never felt concerned with how long to leave the LED on green before switching off the charger. It could be as soon as it goes green or the next day. At work, we don't get to sort out many battery problems for the...

    Batteries Charging Routine

I guess the 280mA may be due to the 5AH. I never had a small capacity battery except a Bosch tool battery sometime ago for my Brompton but that had its own charger. I am learning from Stuart's observations.

what you mean by really finished? The LED turns green when the charging voltage is 42V AND the current is below 100 milliAmps.
