    Xofo Motor

Torque is no problem but you may lose top speed. I thought I remember reading somewhere maximum RPM for the BBS01 is 90 and BBS02 120. How fast can you pedal (on a trainer) ?

How is the 25 km/h limit imposed by controller?

yes. You can set the speed limit to 42mph for example, that will derestrict the bike and you can pedal assisted all the way, just set the assist level to 5 if you have 5. You will be then limited by your maximum cadence.

How is the 25 km/h limit imposed by controller?

which LCD do you have John? you need to set the correct wheel size for the speedo and limiter to work. The controller can be programmed to run with internal or external speedometer. If the kit is supplied with an LCD, then it is usually programmed for external speedometer but it's not always the...

    Bike for long fastish commute

    http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/focus-jarifa-29er-for-sale.18541/ £1700 may be a bit too high - I reckon I'd sell for £1350

you pay a little more for the 48V BBS02, it's a tried and tested formula. Only need a 52T crank and a BCD adapter to hit your 30mph target. Woosh will have the gear sensor in the Autumn for these kits.

    Bike for long fastish commute

one more possibility is to convert something like this £369 Cube Aim SL 29 with an 8Fun BBS01 or 02. It has much higher assist and you have a throttle too.

it seems a job for the BS10:

    Torque or Speed Sensor

very true. I have never felt torque sensor hard work, perhaps it's because I don't have a throttle on my BBS01. If anything, on the Woosh Sport TS that I ride a few times, it's not hard work at all because the torque sensor spring is fully compressed at fairly low level of effort. On my BBS01...

    What do you think ?

The Sundowner has the basic King Meter J-LCD, easy to change the cut off speed. You will get less assistance at high speed but it's still useful.

you are going to upset people who sell Bosch bikes.

    Torque or Speed Sensor

ideally, you want to be able to keep to a cadence and set your input to for example 75W keep fit but there is no means to control the assist ratio with normal controllers. I know Woosh work on a project to solve this.

    Woosh - more dreadful service

PF collected the old bike so this is postmortem. I thought D C summed it up very nicely.

    Torque or Speed Sensor

one problem with speed sensor (or PAS) - you'll get lazy. You only have to rotate the cranks to start the motor, there is no simple way of keeping fit. The way to have both is a solution seen some time ago on the BH Neo, torque sensor and throttle. You can't use both but you can switch between.

    Torque or Speed Sensor

torque sensor replaces the throttle, the ride is more responsive, more natural. The downside of torque sensor is that you can hit maximum torque/throttle easily and of course when you stop pedalling, the motor cuts out about 1 second after that.

    Woosh - more dreadful service

current scores: dmsims: 2 Hatti: 1 PF: 0 still, we should really like to hear from the customer (Mrs dmsims).

Has anyone fitted a Hobson Pro-Hub x2 saddle?

I often find that the discomfort comes from back ache and thighs rather than sore bum, adjusting seat post height eases my back and thighs.

Advice on building an electric bike for velodrome pacing

George, the velodrome presents very little difficulty for the bike, I think you only need about 500W constant power for 30mph. Another thing you'll need is a high gear ratio, about 140 gear inches. a BBS02 running at 48V will provide you with 500W-750W constant power, 700C wheel, Nexus 7/8/11...
