    Rise of the MAMILs

This article struck me as particularly funny because I very often see the same group of retired gentlemen, out cycling together, when I'm walking the dog. I've seen them for a few years now and as time passes, the Lycra gets more, "daring". It really is a sight to behold. I imagine that they are...

    Keeping A Secret

Oh dear. That is a shame. I mistakenly thought that Panasonic were continuing with the development of the current system. I'm all disappointed now.

    Keeping A Secret

I think that the news of this new battery is very welcome. The fact that it is backward compatible with existing motor units demonstrates a commitment by Panasonic to the current battery fit. This in turn gives us reassurance that our current bikes wont become useless due to unavailability of...

Rear Disc retrofit - should I Bother?

if they will fit, Magura rim brakes are worth considering (HS11 or HS33). I've been using them for just over a year and found them to be a very worthwhile upgrade.

    Rise of the MAMILs

That's a good find, thanks for posting. I particularly like the collective name for a group of MAMILs, "a girth." Very funny.

electric bike retailers are just businessmen

Whilst ever it works both ways, I am happy for the retailers to come on here and promote their own products. By that, I mean, we the forum members, should be able to write about the negative aspects of their products or service. As long as what is written is both truthful and factual, then the...

Anyone looking for a new shed??

I fancy a new shed for another workshop, but don't really have the room. There is something nice about working in shed that you don't get from other types of building.

Did you buy your chain, here, from 50 Cycles? I am getting ready for new sprockets and chain, but will leave it until something fails before replacing the whole lot. Just wondered if the Kalkhoff chain 50 C are selling is suitable for the 8 speed hub geared bikes. (ie is it long / wide enough)

    Question on partial charging

I only use my bike to get to and from work, which is about 10 miles each way. I always charge the battery when I arrive home, after 20 miles, and these days it is well into the final flashing LED stage. It wouldn't really cause me any inconvenience to partially charge my battery (Panasonic...

2 Year, 8000 mile Review of Kalkhoff Pro-Connect

Can you remember if the original had a radius on the teeth when it was new? It may be that the one you are calling the original did have the radius, but the teeth have now worn to a point.

    Could someone please explain 4?

Thats it! I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was, but as you say, in some peoples mind the ebike purports to be an ordinary bicycle. The observer may then be impressed by the riders apparent physical stamina, only to discover on closer inspection that he or she is, "cheating." When that...

    Could someone please explain 4?

This one is simple. It is cheating to ride an ebike. Everyone knows it. The motor contributes to your pedal effort, so it is cheating by definition!
