Dahon vitesse d8 has anybody converted one please

yes. It's very difficult to build a 20" folding bike that is lightweight, with lots of torque, fast and has good range and stealthy looking. D8veh's Dahon P8 Jetstream conversion is the nearest to this set of design goals if you cover the battery with something...

Dahon vitesse d8 has anybody converted one please

I don't think you can with the Dahon Vitesse 8. If you convert yourself, the battery and a big motor are signposts for thieves. If you use a small motor and a small battery then it won't do what you want. The woosh Zephyr-cdn is about as stealthy as you can find a 20" e-folder...

Using a lightweight generator to charge Bosch e-bike battery

charging your e-bike battery is second use, a generator is useful in other circumstances. BTW, if you have a fast charger (4A+), there is no need to have two batteries for your bike. A 15AH battery should be sufficient.

Dahon vitesse d8 has anybody converted one please

OK, if what I said is untrue, give me a single example of a happy outcome from a conversion with a large hub motor, BPM or Mac or Crystalyte on a non suspended 20" bike, nevermind a Dahon which has a proprietary fork.

    looking for conversion expertise

A rear hub conversion is out of the question because of the differential. A front hub conversion is possible, about £450 + labour. A crank drive conversion is best, but more expensive. You are well placed - Cyclezee in Milton Keynes or Woosh in Southend.

Please suggest a compatible Controller for my bike

with a stronger controller, your bike will climb hills better but won't go faster on flat roads. The downside is more wear on the motor. Your current setup runs cool.

Please suggest a compatible Controller for my bike

Yes, I have ridden BPM bikes with 20A controllers. As I have indicated, you can easily get to 22-24mph with BPM motor and 20A controller. the 8-Fun BPM 36V 250W is an OEM version for building road legal bikes, it has the same power as the normal BPMs which are made in 36V 350W or 48V 500W. One...

Please suggest a compatible Controller for my bike

your setup is already optimized, it won't go much faster even when you replace the controller with a stronger one. The limiting factor in this case is the motor (8-Fun SWXH) itself. 18-19mph is the most it can go up to. The 8-Fun SWX02 motor is the next model up (24-25mph), after that, the 8-Fun...

Dahon vitesse d8 has anybody converted one please

speed: only limited by your legs pulling trailer: easy. range: that depends on the battery. With a 15AH battery, you get about 60 miles from a full charge. brand: there is only one polular at the moment, 8-Fun BBS01 that is legal.

    Stop hating ebikes

Most people who want to use high speed e-bikes are commuters under 50s. 40s: 30mph is plenty 50s: 22mph is plenty 60s: 20mph is plenty 70s+: legal speed is plenty

Dahon vitesse d8 has anybody converted one please

I think you will exceed the safe limits of this bike if you fit a powerful motor to it. The bike does not have suspension, it's not safe to hit a pot hole at 20+mph. You also need to solve the following: 1) good brakes. Those V-brakes can cope with a 250W motor, not double that. 2) good rim...

Using a lightweight generator to charge Bosch e-bike battery

you won't be needing that much fuel. I reckon that 1L of petrol can do about 600-800 miles. You'd find a petrol station somewhere before running out.

    D-cycle Discovery8

it does not make sense to assemble the bike in Germany if the bike is almost entirely made with Chinese components. it's sold out any way.

    Kalkhoff Agattu Impulse

you should take it to a 50Cycles shop and let them take a look. The torque sensor inside the motor may have been damaged.

Dahon vitesse d8 has anybody converted one please

you still need the bike when not using the trailer. If you have two batteries, then keeping one in the trailer makes sense. In general, any e-bike with a BPM sized motor (like the Ezee Quando) can pull a trailer.

    Handlebar clamp size

your clamp size is 1" 1/8. Handlebars with diameter 31.8mm will fit.

Dahon vitesse d8 has anybody converted one please

the Dahon is a good bike but not designed to take on a large motor wheel nor to pull a large load. Adding a 500W Mac motor and a 20AH battery won't turn it into an Ezee Quando.
