    Help! I made a 52v battery but it’s cutting out at 50-51v

I can see some panny cells but no idea of the rest. Are they all the same mah and current rating if not, the the battery is only as good as the lowest rated cell. You won;t get ant more form the battery with such a mish mash of used cells, there is one thing one is asking for and that is likely...

    Help! I made a 52v battery but it’s cutting out at 50-51v

One suspects the cells are shot or very saggy, probably both. 51v is an even 3.64v but my guess is that some cells are simply collapsing once the voltage gets low and have high internal resistance, it only takes 0.4 - 0.5v sag to hit lvc. Used laptop cells are just that and certainly won't be...

Grant Shapps wants a speed limit for cyclists

Yes high £100's and some fines of four figures for close passing cyclists, this is a breach of the new HWC recommendation for passing distances or unsafe passes.

    First time wheel build

Imv you will be better building the larger hub with a 1x lacing as the nipple entry will be straighter. For a 2 x the spokes lengths are about right the calc I use says 251.6 L & 250.5 R. I use the same spoke length.

    First time wheel build

My early hubs used cheap 14g spokes and I used to get some broken ones but that might have been down to poorer early builds, after the first couple I found the Sapim strongs and never had an issue since.

    Raleigh Array repair or upgrade

41.3v is a bit low and one expects you have a low voltage in one of the 10 battery cell groups, hence the error 34. The BMS is detecting a fault so will not allow it to switch on to work. As the battery has extra voltage pins it indicates that it uses extra protocols for charging /connection so...

    Making my eBike less illegal

Just looking at the BB shell, we can see some fins (several) which are integral to the shell. These likely would have to be machined out so a press fit 41mm BMS BB can fit, so straight away not an easy job. One should find another suitable bike for akit conversion and forget trying to watse...

Thoughts on a Votani bike; anyone heard of the brand? - plus the search for a decent step through!

Woosh are indeed mainly an online reatailer with just the Southend shop, Wipser though 7oaks based have many dealers around the country so one should be able to find one not to far away. https://wisperbikes.com/dealer-locator/

Woosh is a forum sponsor, the reason they are mentioned a lot is like Wisper they give very good CS and repairs/parts back up.

The bike uses Bafang (China) mid drive similar to the ones used by Bosh and Yamaha etc, the electrics should be pretty good as Bafang are by far the largest motor manufacturer in the world. I'm guessing it is a torque sensing mid drive with canbus electrics ? If it goes wrong you certainly...

Woosh are an online retailer with a store/shop premises in Southend. I have only ever tried some bikes at a track day that pedelecs/Woosh and Wisper organised several years ago in the Lee valley area and a bosh speed pedelec. For a pole one could simply opt for a green shoot of Bamboo, the stuff is everywhere and am sure if one hasn't a plany could ask any one with one for one cutting. I have ordered a £6 F/G pole but if it breaks or I have issues I shall pop over on to the rail embankment and cut a shoot or two...
