    Bike for long fastish commute

Do you have to borrow a device from 50 Cycles to do that?

    What do you think ?

It's a speed sensor like most of the Chinese bikes. So when you turn the pedals it gives the same amount of power whether you're working hard or not. Basically the crank works as a throttle. When you turn the pedals the throttle is open all the way depending on the assist level set.

    Woosh - more dreadful service

Well I realise that I've just done the same thing by pointing it out. But if you really want it to die the best way is to stop posting on it.

    Daytime Lights

Yes the number of vehicles who just use sidelights in poor visibility is astonishing. Even in heavy rain it's hard to pick them out clearly, and in fog you will always see the vehicle before you see the sidelights. Drivers of dark or gray cars on gray days without lights, or just sidelights, are...

    Woosh - more dreadful service

He'd be swinging on Hatti though. He jumped in on a previous thread to say that the gears on the Woosh CDs are rubbish, and the Kudos bikes are far superior.

    Woosh - more dreadful service

Well yes. dmsims has been complaining about the gear change on downshifts for a month or so on this bike, and that's really what this is about. But how does Mrs dmsims get on with it? If she is the rider she's the important one.

    Woosh - more dreadful service

I very much doubt he would have got far doing that. Parcelforce have a central computerised switchboard and it's very difficult to speak to anyone who knows anything in a depot. You can find the depot number but the chances that anyone who picked up the phone could help are slim. Usually Slim...

    Woosh - more dreadful service

I think the main problem seemed to be the summer holidays. Didn't Hatti write that the usual driver was off. I live in a road with no name too, but since they've all had satnav I've never had to guide drivers to my door. That happened regularly at one time. Last week a pick up with one of the...

    Woosh - more dreadful service

Didn't know they were part of the same group as Interlink. Interlink do have a really good tracking system, and you always know when they'll arrive and they are on time. One little peculiarity is that all their drivers seem to be called Adrian... As in Adrian will be with you in 30 minutes, he...

    That's cheating!

I used to get that years ago when I passed someone peddling a sit up and beg bike up a hill on my quite expensive road bikes. I think it's just something that pops into some people's mouths when you pass them. Better than the uptight sods who immediately started to race you when you just wanted...

    Woosh - more dreadful service

Yes. It depends where you live and whether you live in a big conurbation where they'll employ anyone who can present a driving license and doesn't appear to be drunk at the interview. Even Hermes delivers okay around here, and all the main ones have regular drivers who know the area.

    Import costs from EM3EV?

It's not usually duty, it's the 20% VAT they are charging you. It's because it's not paid on exports that electronic stuff from the US seemed so cheap at one time. Plus they have local sales tax which adds to the cost there, but like VAT isn't paid on exports. Customs started clamping down a...

    What do you think ?

The gearing depends on the bike you're buying. The Woosh Sirocco is about 106" in top I think. Same as a Sport CD I was using. So plenty of room there to pedal past the cut off. They don't roll all that well unassisted at speed with the tyres they come with though. You can make them give assist...

Now Sold and thanks for the interest. Thanks to those who helped to bump it too.

    Does size really matter?

This Kalkoff I've just bought will go up the 17.5% hill up to my house in third gear faster and with about the same amount of effort or less than the Woosh in first. It is ridiculously undergeared though and if it's the same gearing as a member here who posted his, third is 37." While the Woosh...

    Shortlist

It's got lights on it Dennis. I had the back light flashing when I rode it. Every little helps. The front light has a flashing mode too.

    Wanted: Looking for fast eBike

Well a Woosh crank drive which has been deregulated by changing the settings on the King Meter can do about 24 mph or so on the flat with power assistance. You'd have to pedal as well though but not that strenuously. The battery should do the milage like that as long as there wasn't a lot of...

    Wanted: Looking for fast eBike

Flecc would know more than me, but these are EU wide regulations which member states have incorporated into their domestic laws. Is it the case that Ireland allows e bikes like that? Germany has its fast S bikes but even they have to be covered by EU regulation and they are not allowed throttles.
