    A legal question or two....

That was a Kipor 1000w generator - maybe 800w or 900w. the charger is 36v 4 amp 160w. The £200 generator shown in your post #86 would be perfect. I have one like that - 9kg IIRC.

    Frog ebike battery

There's a compartment underneath that can take a controller slightly larger than the small ones. The problem with Frog batteries is that they never give you the vital plastic collars in the seat tube clamp, so you're clamping metal to metal that doesn't grip very well. Also, the cantilever...

Help! Carrera Crosscity - No pedal Drive

Replacing the sprockets won't help if it's fre-hub gears as the pawls are in the hub. Free-wheel gears have the pawls in the gears. Show us a photo of your motor and gears if you're not sure what you have. The difference is that the free-hub gears have a retaining piece, like below, on the top...

Help! Carrera Crosscity - No pedal Drive

The problem is that water has got in and made the pawls rusty, which has made them stick down. You can probably solve it with oil. Get some 3-in-One. It must be that type of oil, not ordinary oil. Turn the bike on its side and drizzle the oil around the axle so that it goes down inside the...

    Pas speed

There's the shunt grinning at you from behind those two red wires. Add a blob of solder up the left side to about hald way round the bend. See if that gives you enough power. If not, you can go a bit further, but not as far as the horizontal bit. Use plenty of heat and be careful that the solder...

Shunt mod cutting out when full throttle

Your only solution now is to uncover it. You should never go over 30% of the length. Get as much solder off as you can with the soldering iron, then use a small file. If you can't get enough solder off to solve your issue, file a series of grooves in the shunt. If you allow too much current...

    Help/advice requested

You'll be lucky to find anyone locally, who has the knowledge to fix your bike. Even if you could, they'd probably charge more than what it's worth. I think you're either going to have to get a meter out and sort it yourself or sell it as it is as a non-runner. First step would be to check...

    Throttle with ignition key?

It'll be fine. The red wire to the display is the ignition wire. The display has a latching switch that connects it to a wire (normally blue) that goes pack to the controller to power it. All you've done is added an extra key switch to the same wire.

    Pas speed

The 13A at 24v is the problem. Best option would be to solder the shunt to take it up to around 17A. You need to solder about 25% of its length to get that. Take the end plate off the controller and show a photo of what you can see in there.

    Help! Carrera Vengeance e type!!!

IIRC, they go colour to colour. Use Google to search the forum for other threads on this. A guy did a nice wtite up about it. You should check that the three hall signal wires give 5v switching on and off as the wheel rotates backwards slowly. Steady 5v as wrong.

    Battery life

Bosch use the same Samsung or Panasonic cells as any other battery. No clever case around them made by Bosch or their Chinese supplier can change how the cells work. Bosch charges them to 42v, the same as all the others. Here's the data sheet for one of the cells they use, which shows a...

    Battery life

A lot of factors affect it: How deep you discharge it, temperatures, how much power you use, etc. If you use it every day, you'd probably start noticing a difference in range after 2 years, then the range gradually goes down. 2 to 5 years id what most people get.

    A legal question or two....

The charge current depends on the BMS in your battery. Normally, they have a single mosfet rated at 5 amps max. Sometimes there's no separate mosfet, so you can charge as high as the output current within the limit of the cells. General guidance is 0.2c for charging, which would be about 4 amps...

    SWX02 to Q128h

You can't trust the speeds from BMSBattery. The 201 rpm Q128C was always 260 rpm. I'm not sure about the Q128H. You might find that at 48v your "201 rpm" motor does 328 rpm.
