With lcd4 one doesn't need to bother about battery bars as the display gives out real world voltage readings under load, I see about 0.3 - 0.5v sag under load in low PAS which is normal.

The battery bars are only a guide and not very accurate regarding remaining charge, the only time they are really accurate can be with a full battery and when the they go out and the bike cuts out.

What about battery connection to controller ? If the comm's are only charger to battery then one could ditch the BMS and fit a generic one and use a generic charger. But if the battery uses comm's to the controller as well then one can't.

Amalgam tape for that one in the pic, as it is hard wearing and w/p also sticks like you know what. Motor axels are hard and really need a tricky re wire.
