    What do you think?

if fracking gets the go ahead, it would be at least 20 years before Britain can be heated in winter with our own shale gaz. It's true that western Europe has a lot of shale gaz reserve and perhaps we'll buy gaz from Poland instead of Russia in the future.

Alex, as a matter of personal interest (for my next project), can you give me the total weight of your kit and bike? I am trying to compare 48V 8-Fun BBS01 with N360 against CST500W

    8fun crank drive kit

as I was reading this morning another thread about a member looking to buy a bike for commuting with an 8-Fun SWXH motor, I wonder that now that Bafang sell EN15194 crank motors at Chinese price - is there any point buying a bike with an SWX motor?

    first electric bike

Consider also the diminishing return on bigger budget and nickability. Is the bike a means of transport or a treat for self? I have a BBS01 crank drive kit, decent forks and hydraulic brakes. It took me a couple of hours to build, it's cheap and takes me anywhere I want to go.

there isn't a lot to choose from between £800 and £1500. You can only get Chinese bikes. If you can go up to £1700, there are good selection of very nice German made bikes. It's also better buying from a specialist e-bike shop. They offer new models and more competitive prices. E-bikes do get...

it's not fiction, all operating systems can be attacked if three things are true: the target machine uses a popular processor, the target machine uses a popular operating system and the target machine is connected to the internet. Check this wiki: Metasploit Project - Wikipedia, the free...

apple manage to protect their customers in a way that microsoft can't: apple customers do not generally install 'free' a/v on their PCs. linux can still be attacked - but a virus on a PC cannot 'see' the picture on the TV even if it follows the keystrokes (sent from my PC) and mouse movement because it has no idea which O/S, application and screen resolution I run the pi. The pi itself can be made a lot more secure than your...

what do you guys think of this bike? seems a good deal

You can do just that easily with an 48V 350W 8-Fun BBS01 and 48V 20AH battery - dead easy to fit. Cost: about $800 from China. It says 350W on the box but it can deliver the same result as most 1000W hub motors.

what do you guys think of this bike? seems a good deal

keep in mind that air resistance is proportional to the cube of your speed, the energy consumption per mile is to the square of your speed without pedalling. I use the formulae P = 2WH + 0.065WH * MPH * MPH, that works out to 8.5WH/m @ 10mph, 16.6WH/m @ 15mph, 28WH/m @ 20 mph, 42.6WH/m @ 25mph...

How do I make the Sirocco CD faster?

Over 20mph, you'll need pedalling because at that speed, the wind resistance is already about 400W before adding headwind. Crank drive does make pedalling a lot easier though.
