    Bottom Bracket size

From the front wiring hub, you have 3 connectors, one 6-pin for the LCD, the other two have 3 pins. One male, one female. I connect the 6-pin to the LCD and leave the two 3-pin unconnected. I assume the throttle socket is the male 3-pin and the brake sensor is the female 3-pin. All connectors...

The kit comes with two BB nuts, on my bike (68mm shell), I have about 5mm thread after installing the two nuts. On 73mm shell, the second nut may not be fully secure. BTW, 36V 18A printed on the motor. I tried to remove the cover by undoing 4 x 3mm allen bolts around the rim but the cover did...

my kit has 36V 250W label on it - 8-Fun also makes a 48V 350W version. I think the 48V costs the same but for the US market.

Help needed - English to French translation

is the better one. If the full stop is removed, the phrase sounds better: "Les cicatrices nous rappellent d'où nous venons mais ne dictent pas où nous allons." an alternative: "Les cicatrices nous rappellent où nous étions. Elles ne forcent pas où nous allons."

    Booster battery advice required

There are two limitations when considering derestricting a hub drive bike: maximum no load rotation speed and throttle voltage. The no-load limit is the biggest obstacle. If you are lucky enough to have a high speed hub motor, fit a sine wave kit with LCD and keep the battery. If not, the...

    Booster battery advice required

overvolting with a large capacity booster can kill your bike. The controller low voltage protection does not work, if you drain the main battery before your booster, you can damage your main battery and vice versa. The nylon gear of the SWX motor can also be easily stripped on hills, it's not...

    Pedelec Boom Continues

That broken handlebar was a real danger as in the picture, so are the ineffective disc brakes. ADAC only state what they found, e-bikes need to be overbuilt because we are not as strong or as fast as we were. Also, motor power has crept up over the years - CST and Ezee motors for example are...

    Dilemma....

Option C: get a crank drive kit from 8-Fun. This is the easiest way to go fast with a smallish battery. Just set the LCD how fast you want to go (up to 25mph).

    Advice - Adding a booster battery ?

If you can change your BB than you can fit an 8-Fun BBS01 crank drive kit. It'll give you 22mph on 12T rear sprocket @ 36V.

Another battery question-please can you help?

Look at the casing and the cover screws. They don't match any 8-Fun model. I used to have a Xiongda motor with similar casing. Mine was a 250W unit with steel gears. 6 screws on each side, serial number begins with SYZ on the freewheel side. Picture of the motor from Strada website:

    kalkhoff bikes

crank drive is more efficient because it achieves better results on 3 primary goals: weight, battery, gradient: crank drive is lighter (8-Fun crank kit is lighter than 8-Fun CST), offers better fuel economy and can be cheaper to build. Crank drive is also more efficient on hills.

    New Bosch motor..

The new flexible panels have up to 12% efficiency @ standard 1000W/sqm irradiance. 1 square metre gives 120W - that's enough to ride the bike on solar alone. For topup charging, 0.3 sqm may give 150 - 250WH on a sunny day. Imagine the sun recharges your battery while you stop for a spot of lunch.

recommendations for bike for 12 mile commute each way

pedematt, if you want to spend more than £1,500, don't buy Chinese, buy a Bosch or a Kalkhoff. The law of diminishing return hits the Chinese bikes much harder than German bikes. Chinese bikes are good value if the components are sourced from China.
