the bike is worth at present £350 but with a new 14AH battery, its value should be £775 as the battery will come with new two year guarantee or £875 with both old and new batteries. This bike has a Nexus 7 - not cheap old derailleur. What can you buy with £775 that comes anywhere near?

FOR SALE: Ezee Cadence, quick sale to buy my new bike £350

I don't think it's fair to compare ebay prices or BMS's for that matter with john's. why should a quality battery from john cost any less than a quality battery from Bosch?

    BH Emotion serious problems

martin, it was me deleting the question I thought maybe not of much interest. From esthetic point of view, BH bikes always cause me to stop and admire whenever I spot a new model in a shop window. I thought BH are very attractively priced too.

Talk to me about running costs

I suspect that there is an awful lot of e-bikes being bought then left gathering dust after being ridden a few times. Those tend to be 100% low cost Chinese bikes. After 3 months in the shed, the battery is allowed to run totally flat, then recharging starts to fail etc. - that does not do much...

Pedelecs - Read Terms and Conditions of Warranty

quite a lot of bikes are still fitted with cups and bearings bottom brackets - perfectly functional but can get loosened quite quickly, requiring maintenance more often. My guess is that the LBS seeing one of those, promptly suggested replacing with a sealed cartridge type. A new sealed...

    Hub Drive or Crank Drive?..

Talk to me about running costs

just like all other forms of personal transport, the running cost is only acceptably low if you make good use of your e-bike. Some people don't want to ride any more after less than a year: cost per mile > 50p - £1 Use the bike less than 10 miles per week (eg go shopping locally): cost per mile...

Pedelecs - Read EU directive EN 15194

I don't have throttle on my bike but as far as I am aware, the police is not chasing after people who use throttle. We haven't formally adopted EN15194 anyway. When we do, some of us will simply unplug the throttle, not such a big deal.

German Manufacturers attack ADAC test findings

I can't see why they should complain: safety test will have to go a fair bit beyond normal load, if some bikes have their handlebars broken during test then the simplest thing to do is to offer worried customers a chance to buy upgrades.

    Talk about a crazy world...

our planet receives 8,000 times more energy directly from the sun than all we burn today - including all the renewable wood. There is no way that a few hundred years of burning fossil fuel can determine earth weather. Yet, our children are obliged to learn (without qualification or...

    Talk about a crazy world...

the only valid support for nuclear generation is this technology causes relatively lower carbon emission - I am not persuaded that carbon emission is a problem, for at least several hundred years. If you remove carbon targets, nobody is going to support nuclear. Now, who funds so many...
