    Brompton Nano or Kudos Secret?

the small wheels of the folding bikes will garantee good climbing ability - I can't see why you would want crank drive?

    Talk about a crazy world...

There is less and less proof of earth temperature being directly linked to carbon dioxide so the argument of low carbon generation is less convincing. By the time that Hinkley C comes online, fracking may become reality, electricity produced locally with shale gas may be the cheapest form of...

    Talk about a crazy world...

I am always suspicious of the low carbon and the 25,000 job arguments. why not buy more electricity from France and forget about Hinkley C?

    Which e.bike?

put your hand on the motor. anyway, crank drive motors don't overheat and don't break spokes.

    Combined electric wheel

that is over simplified. Where are the brake sensors? what happens if you mobile phone falls off the bike? how can you prove that you are pedalling (required by EN15194)?

    Combined electric wheel

I counted 20 2A cells - 144WH. There have been other examples of combining battery, controller and motor before, none met with much enthusiasm. The idea is not very good, your wheel is a constant source of vibrations - subjecting batteries to vibration is stupid. The inertia of the electrodes...

how likely can minihub crack like this

I have hit the kerb lots of times but nothing worse than one damaged rim and a few broken spokes over the years. I ride a crank drive now so this kind of problem is avoided altogether. The spokes do seem quite thick in comparison with the flange on the motor. Maybe it's better to have weaker...

Technical help required please if you may.....

check also that the magnet ring hasn't lost one of its magnets. If the sensor has an LED, the LED should blink when you switch on the electrics. Check also the state of the cable insulation where the cable is exposed to the elements. If still no joy, check the connection with the controller.

    Kudos Eiger with NuVinci Hub

thanks tom. The Eiger is affordable to many members of this forum, the KTM is more to do with pride and joy (maybe priceless to some but unfortunately, not for me). I was hoping you were going to say the Eiger gives the KTM Macina Race a run for their money.

    Flykly smart wheel on kickstarter

if I were to use same motor wheel on two different bikes, I would fit a new bottle battery mount or rear rack to both bikes, I get to choose from a wide range of motors and batteries, the additional cost for a rack or a bottle mount is minimal. The idea of using bluetooth is good - I reckon...

    Flykly smart wheel on kickstarter

$700 for a motor wheel with 20 x 2A cells? it's too expensive for what is does. Also, it's not very clever to put fragile electronics into a wheel where it can be so easily knocked about - especially when the wheel hits the kerb.

how likely can minihub crack like this

spotted this thread on another forum: Endless-sphere.com • View topic - Cracked Mini-geared hub motor - Cautionary tale the crack seems to have started by a spoke. I wonder if anyone has seen this kind of problem before.
