When is it time to replace a battery?

If the battery still does the job without cutting out then keep using it until it starts to do so then think about replacing it. If wanting anew battery simply buy a new one or try and get it re-celled.

Help! Inherited an older Green City Bike

Like most cheap euro supermarket bikes, the parts will be generic type and use a simple 2 wire battery connection. Any battery of the correct voltage will work but whether one can get the same case type we don't know without seeing pics.

One has to test with the PAS connected, trace the wiring to the connector and simply place the probes up the back of the connection (doesn't matter which side of the connector) and carry out the process with the bike power on. No use testing without the PAS connected as one needs to know the...

    Electric Bike Battery Problems

If the battery is under two years old then it will be in warranty, Halfrauds need to replace and recycle it. Don't take the battery in to them but first talk to them and show them the clip to decide the next step. Don't be fobbed off by them as it has a two year warranty.

    Electric Bike Battery Problems

There is a possibility, to a point batteries are stable until something goes wrong. I doubt a cell has vented as it doesn't release smoke but electrolytes and give off a strange smell, however smoke is released when something burns so my feeling is that the smoke is electrical either wiring or a...

    Electric Bike Battery Problems

lion batteries don't smoke for no reason, even if it charges it needs investigating at the very least to know why. Hellfire just watched your film, something has shorted out in the battery case. It might be a wire melting or a pair shorting, it seriously needs investigating.

    Carrera Vegeance E

It has the HESC system you can't add one as far as we know. Some bike kits are possible but bikes like yours aren't able to.

It it uses wire block connectors then one can test by poking meter probes in to the back for a contact, if it used WP connectors then one has to make up a Y wire connector that allows probe access or open the controller and test directly form the pcb.

    Looking to buy E-bike

One has to be careful comparing bikes as they have to be similarly spec'd, a 500w motor is likely to have a higher current load applied then the 250w and other software changes. It's a bit like saying a 2ltr car is better then a 1 ltr car.

The old controller likely is a speed controller so the KT would have felt lacking as it uses current control, only PAS 4 or 5 as well as throttle would have a similar feel to the old controller. I suspect the wiring order may be wrong or maybe the hall has failed.

Unplugging the battery BRICKS this device; you MUST go back to the manufacturer

The only way forward is for these brands/companies to fail, the world has to vote by ethics and avoid these types of products which have a short life expectancy.

    Chain jumping on smallest cog

Freewheels tend to be fixed and riveted, the cassette is more modular without internal bearings. With a cassette it is easier to build one up to have the gear jumps one prefers.

1k isn't nowhere enough for a cycle to work scheme, ideally it should be any amount up to 2k or 3k.
