Norman Baker tries an electric bike

Transport Minister Norman Baker said: “Cycling is good for your health, good for the environment and helps to tackle congestion. We want to see more people taking to two wheels and this includes electric bikes, which might be the attractive option for those who feel unable to tackle steep...

    Deflated ... or what?

Hi Hatti, not naive at all, and welcome to the Forum. What you describe of course has a lot of merrit, however in our experience over the last few years if anyone is thinking about buying an electric bike and peace of mind is important. It is far better to purchase one from a dealer who is...

    Deflated ... or what?

Hi Fidok Yes they are we do also have a dealer in Garforth as it is over 10 miles away from Sheffield and we would like to have dealers eventually all over the country within a 8 mile ride away from most of the population. All the best David

    Deflated ... or what?

In my experience Neptune your business model is the only one that works, but can only be sustained if you are genuinely interested in your customers' issues.

    Deflated ... or what?

Hi Davanti, I am absolutely "gob smacked" at your report. To read that you have been told that you can't simply drop off your bike for a couple of hours is most disturbing. Actually it seems incredible. Surely the dealer must be able to keep a diary? If you would like me to become involved I...

I know, a lot more Eddie, but that wasn't my point (as I think maybe you know:D). To bring the Elephant out of the room....... Are we suggesting that someone maybe writing reports on their own bikes using an alias?

Maybe worth considering time as well. Leaving a month between a member joining and the review being accepted, give them a chance to try the bike out!

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Many thanks again Flecc, that's roughly what I had gleaned, there are some very fancy high end chains for derailiure bikes. The features and benefits seem to be built around weight and the shape of the chain components. The emphasis was on reducing noise and making gear changes more slick when...

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

The font of all knowledge! Thanks a million AGAIN Flecc! I have also been researching the advantages and disadvantages of stainless steel chains, but am getting a mixed bag of reactions with the majority seeming to favour high end stain resistant chains. Do you have a preference? Best...

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Hi Bob, I had heard that stainless chains tend to be more brittle, of course they stay nice and shiny though! If you look at high end mountain bike chains that need to take massive forces, they are not usually SS. We were warned off using stainless chains but maybe we should re-visit? All...

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Thanks Flecc, do you know if that was on derailiure type gears only or on hubs too? I believe hub chains are usually more "chunky" and strong than derailiure chains and less likely to "stretch".

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Thanks Flecc, I can't help thinking that with all the problems created by 600W+ being put through a system (bicycle chain drive) that has only been designed to take 500W or so from a super fit rider, isn't a hub drive more sensible as far as wear and tear on bicycle components is concerned?

Deb hand? I meant of course dab hand! The 905sel has a full hall affect motor so has 8 wires, I will ask for some extras to be sent with the next consignment of sel bikes and will put one by for you Karl. All the best David

    Back wheel puncture

Thanks Guys, your kind words are much appreciated! It is a two way street though. Most of the upgrades and improvements that have been made to Wisper bikes over the last four or five years have originated from comments made by Pedelec Forum members. I seriously appreciate the input. I...

Hub or Derailleur, Which Is Best?

Just had a call back from Shimano. The position is that their warranty would cover their hub drives on the condition that no more than 40Nm (about 500W) was exerted on the sprocket at the hub. They went onto say that; A, Bosch reduced the max torque on their motor from 50Nm to 40Nm...
