    Brexit, for once some facts.

Beyond a certain point, a rational person realises that the other person is not rational.

No. Of course the EU would have been and would still be happy if the UK decided to return to the fold. But throughout the entire process the EU have been respectful of the UK decision, crafted a WA which was agreed by the UK negotiating team, and agreed by the EU side. What more could they do...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Listen carefully to what he said. His ire was directed directly at those who DIRECTED the Leave camp, who had not thought ANYTHING through, not at those who wanted a remainder position. For nearly three years those people have refused to recognise EU realities. What he was also saying is that an...

Interesting comment by Donald Trusk at the press conference today in Brussels. While it will come across as ill-tempered ,I suspect it was very much calculated to concentrate minds in Westminster., tomorrow.

No. Ours is a Danfoss DHP AQ . The external unit contains everything except an electronic control panel . In our case, because access was through a narrow gate, we needed a unit under 80 cm in one dimension..and that severly limited the field of available units. There was an Oscher unit I...

That is exactly what I meant, about resiting the replacement unit. The original one vented unto a courtyard type space (Three high walls) , and the ice would remain on the ground for days after it had melted elsewhere. Now it vents into the wider space of the garden . A ground source unit is...

Our electricity costs were/ are high. Until he moved out a year ago, a son would have had an oxygen concentrator at 400 w on almost 24/7 and a high powered games computer close on a kw . ..so they would have been nearly 50% of our load. . I like to compare it to the heating an aunt had...

You are actually correct. Geothermal traditionally means heat rising from the core via the mantle towards the surface , and is basically from radioactive decay. The use of Geothermal for heat absorbed in the first metre of surface from solar radiation is a misnomer. Even the deeper vertical...

I actually have a Air to water heat pump.Danfoss 11KW and might at peak consume 3.5 Kw electric..i have a meter across my full supply. On the few times it is struggling, it calls in the oil burner for a short while. These systems are very popular around here. To put it in context, I got a...

... Just as most people will consider grown men putting on rubber suits, looking like corpulent seals and standing up on planks of Styrofoam with a few sq metres of polyester on a stick and hoping for the same wind to propel them, when there are perfectly good Banana boats equally ridiculous.

Correct, ..but is your experience shared by your coastal friends. The number of windless days ,I experience in Ireland can be counted on one hand.

I do believe that the UK is particularly vulnerable in that regard. Even the Renewable energy rich Scotland with Hydro and excellent wind resources are far distant from the consumers in the SE.

I agree with the comment about short term storage.... (Though the Love Island reference is beyond my ken). The solution is always a mixture of technologies AND a wider grid. A pan European grid stretching from Finland, down into the Sahara and with a mix of producing and storage technologies...

A long term high would be very serious, and this means that storage or a very wide grid are necessary. But even under a constant high pressure, there are always diurnal coastal winds...
