you also have bikes with both torque sensor and rotational sensor where the torque sensor acts like a throttle.

Woosh Santana CD. Hill climbing and gear changing.

jimod, in my test I found on 8%+ hills, the Santana CD is best climbing in gear 1 with assist level 5 and full throttle even when it looks like you don't need it. I think that is because you get higher motor output when the chainring runs fast.

You mean underestimated surely? ground distance: 243m elevation (Park House): 24.4m elevation (at the top): 47.1m race distance: 244m average gradient: 9.3% steepest section: 14% (half way up) If the race was run in 33 seconds, average speed is 16.6mph Then the rightful winner is the one with...

Would this bike be good for a conversion?

that's very sensible. go for a Bafang CST. You can probably hide the controller in the rucksack too.

Would this bike be good for a conversion?

you need to work out battery capacity requirement, then where to fit it and how to fit it. You can't count on the two lugs on the downtube to hold the battery, probably not strong enough, therefore, may be some extra bracketing is needed. For offroad use, is it downhill or muddy tracks?

61, Over weight and Unfit from South Wales :)

bikes sent by couriers usually do not have their pedals fitted. If you fit pedals for the first time, put a little grease on the thread, screw it in by hand, most important, until the pedal is almost completely in. If you feel any resistance, unscrew and check the thread. Then you need a good...

I weigh 75kgs and I climbed Pier hill several times on throttle alone. Even the Zephyr CDN managed 8-9mph on throttle alone at the steepest part of Pier Hill, that's what shows up on the LCD. Woosh fit high discharge rate batteries to all their 2014 bikes, the Santana CD has 28A BMS. On steep...

The Santana CD at 6.5mph on 15% gradient: you have to climb at gear 1 and the chart says you should weigh less than 75kgs. If you are heavier, the speed drops but you can still do it with throttle. The Big Bear: weight is not much of a problem, but speed is. You can weigh 120kgs and it will...

None of the legal bikes can do the speed of the S class. The TCM CDs are about as powerful as the Bosch Active line, they have low maximum power that they are never going to feel like motobikes. The BPM bikes are only impressive at under 17mph.

I come to Southend a few times a year, Woosh let me take their bikes out for a spin and usually use Pier hill to test, sometimes they need feedback on their prototypes it's steep alright.

yes, I have and I don't like them much, too much like motorbikes. They take the bike feel away. My favorite for flat roads is the torque sensor but it's not very good on hill nor very fast. The crank drives are still best compromise for speed, power, balance and low noise. I think I will look...

The light version of NuVinci costs $200 in China. The older, heavier is cheaper. By the time somebody imports it, add a wheel to it, add VAT to it it will be £300. Waste of money for the number of times it may beat the derailleur. how many gears do you need to climb hills? on an easy hill...

you get up to the top of Park Street then pedal gently downhill, listening to the motor's rumblings. When you pass 15.5MPH, you should feel the rumblings gone. Without a hill, you need a winter bike exerciser to create a bit of resistance. This method should work with any bike.
