Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

watching the review on http://electricbikereview.com/easy-motion/neo-race/ it seems that the controller's input is switched between torque sensor output and the throttle. That accounts for the responsiveness of the bike.

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

I re-read carefully what dave posted yesterday. Most of what he wrote I agree with, the excellent Tonaros deserve more exposure, the Bosch bikes can be tricky on hills, small manufacturers do not have the budget to develop sophisticated crank drives and the BPM motor is very good at hill...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

35mph is indeed very impressive. I am scared any time I go over 21-22mph.

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

the Bear is a brute. It rides like a motobike. You never need to change from gear 7. It makes you wonder why you need to pedal at all. However, I derestricted the bikes to see how fast they went. I was faster on the CDL (24mph pedalling flat out) than on the Bear (22mph flat out) along Southend...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

dave, Hatti can post for herself, I only give my view on their bikes. The Woosh does not stop because you have the throttle on full, same as riding on throttle alone without PAS. Try it for yourself, disconnect the PAS - the throttle alone makes the bike responds nearly instantaneously. Other...

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

I don't even have a throttle on my bike and I don't have much problem with shifting gears on my BBS01 which has a very similar setup. Ask Tonaro owners, their bike setup is the same as the Woosh CDs. I think kudosdave makes a mountain out of a mole hill.

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

on the Bosch, you stop pedalling and the power stops nearly instantly, on the Woosh, the power decreases for about 2 seconds before stopping due to the PAS sensor programming. The trick with the Woosh is to stop pedalling for 3-4 seconds holding throttle to full, blip the brakes to instantly cut...

Building new ebike need suggestions on a kit & bike

No, I am willing to bet that the performance of the BBS01 350W will outdo the Bafang BPM

Torque or speed sensor - preferences?

The Bosch bikes do not have brake sensors and therefore rely on the torque sensor to detect braking and to replace the throttle. That's why they have to have clever software.

    Crimping Tool

insulated wires need to stay flexible. Soldering kills their flexibility, causing the joints to fracture over time at the point where the solder creeps to up the wire, the wire becomes brittle with the solder creep. crimp when you want to be sure...

Legal bike how to chose between them?

we have debated the motor power issue. The problem is not the UK legislation but EN15194 - that does not want to impose limit on allowable maximum motor output.

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

the battery is the same (36V 15AH) on these two bikes (Bear & CD).

Woosh Sirocco CD or Big Bear?

If two bikes have a race, the Bear will win if the rider weighs more than 100kgs, the CD will win if the rider weighs less than 75kgs, between the two weights, they are about equally fast. The Bear's BPM motor is optimized for weight carrying at low speed, the CD is optimized for high speed or...

No, not a new source. The same guy advertizes them: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-PANASONIC-NCR-18650-B-Li-Ion-3400mAh-3-6V-Rechargeable-Battery-TABs-Tags-/360924318426 £74 for 10 including p&p

it seems like a good source for parts. In your situation, I would be tempted to by 28 pieces of 3400mAH.
