A statue of a Black Lives Matter protester has appeared on the plinth previously occupied by the statue of slave trader Edward Colston. Barry will be thrilled: Information Link .

I wish them luck with that. People are supposed to be wearing face masks on buses but as I've seen here and was also reported on the news, they are refusing to. That has surprised me since I thought the drivers wouldn't allow them on board without one. Trouble is of course that for viral...

Wasn't Boris going to build a bridge? ;) Last time he set out to build a bridge, in London, we ended up with a cable car! Crossing the Irish Sea in a cable car would be quite an experience. o_O .

Look at the list of my supermarkets in this post. Not one has any of those at the entrance or elsewhere that I've seen, we're on our own and I've never seen anyone doing their own disinfecting. Clearly London and North Surrey are very different places from those many of you live in. Yet we...

Lidl is the one of the two major supermarkets I don't visit, they are in the opposite direction from me and it sounds like that's just as well. My route to an edge of town Sainsburys takes me past an M & S, Co-op, Aldi, Iceland, Waitrose and Somerfield, seven in just five miles. The other one...

I can assure you that none of that happens anywhere here as some others have confirmed on baskets, and security here would take a very dim view of you putting things into your shopping bag before the checkout. .

We are not Brazil or the USA, that is your imagination and not what I've posted. Every government balances economic cost against Covid because they have to and where that is set is a matter of opinion. It always costs lives. I'm not amused by deaths but by all your predictions of doom and...

I don't believe that. None of all the major supermarkets I've used sanitise them here in South London or North Surrey. Trolleys handles sometimes yes, but basket handles never, they just get cycled through the stacks continuously. .

And who repeat this behaviour at each contact? Honestly you guys all amuse me, any argument, excuse or possibility to continue the hysteria. :) Why not relax and accept that life has positives as well as negatives. After over 4 million years we are still here and living longer than ever...

In the case of Britain and many other countries, they aren't thinking again. They really ought to get out into the real world more. Almost a third of our households are single person, you can spot them easily since they predominantly shop using a supermarket basket rather than a trolley...

Yes, either can't catch it or who can only suffer vestigial symptoms. That's 14 days in June so completely irrelevant. Their overall figures are lower than ours and we had our high figures long before them. In lockdown terms, it was a joke. To all intents and purposes it gave no...

So your forecast, about 1 in 1320 of the population, is rather worse than what we've experienced so far, commensurate with our considerable and expanding easing of lockdown. I'm confident it won't be that high and very confident that it will be far lower in London. If I'm right it will show...

We'll know a whole lot better by next spring if the science is once again shown to be wrong and we don't get a large scale second phase. They won't be able to put that down to imagining the public have been very good with lockdown this time! Meanwhile the science has proved to be so wrong...

No we don't. We do know there are huge racial differences in the effects of Covid-19, up to 4 to 1. We also know we are not Chinese. We don't eat most of their native foods, or have their living conditions, or their psychology, philosophy and customs. Anyway Barry thinks we are more in...

This completely misses the point I am making. I'm saying that the facts about this pandemic indicate that most of us already have full or partial natural immunity, as we do to many other illnesses, so in consequence we lucky ones don't need any new herd immunity or vaccine. Most of use don't...

    Crank lateral play

Yes, to the layman lateral, side to side and axial are all the same thing in respect of a shaft, but engineers prefer absolute clarity to accurately diagnose a fault. I didn't realise you and your wife had two different different e-bikes. .

    Crank lateral play

Hi Ted, the answer you want is that it is axial play, i.e. in line with the shaft. I'm afraid I don't know the Shimano STEPS crank motor that your Volt uses so am unable to help, but hopefully someone familiar with it will be able to help. Meanwhile to possibly help others, is it only on...
