New ebike - teething problems or more?

While in the great scheme of things, its only a small matter, and easily rectified, I think it's actually illegal. One of the EU directives, requires that plug tops on products adhere to the national standard.,for products sold in any national territory.

    Fascism returns to Spain

As an aside... NI has three or four currencies also... The pound sterling notes as issued by bank of England. Pound sterling as issued by northern Ireland banks , maybe the pound sterling as issued by Scottish banks and the Euro. The Bank of England sterling note is acceptable everywhere. The...

Sexual wrongdoings is a 2-way street.

There are other more pressing issues, than investigating actions which may or may not have been crimes at the times they were committed. The statutes of limitations is there for a purpose. If the women were above the age of consent, and even if he and others were sleazeballs, and used...

Would someone with a collection of those charming g*******g metal badges then get life imprisonment?

New ebike - teething problems or more?

The charger bit is easy to fix.. any hardware type shop or luggage shop tend to sell UK to European type adaptors. However don't be tempted to buy the so called shaver adaptors, they are marginal for your use... They are only expecting a tiny current not the 1 to 2 amps that the charger will want.

New ebike - teething problems or more?

My suggestion is that if you are a newbie, use the bike in full power mode until both your legs (and whatever ) harden up. Then you can revert back to more eco settings as you get that little bit fitter....or less sensitive. There will be a whine from the motor on full power, but not...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

But by definition a parliament is a talking shop. The primary function of a parliament is to keep tabs on the executive. Members of a parliament are lay people, supposed to represent the great unwashed, whose function is to ensure that the civil service,eg the police, the army, the tax...

    ebike law changes coming....

A logical outcome would be banning kits.Or at least demanding a written declaration by the assembler that the bike as assembled will meet the regulation. It would then also be logical to charge a compliance fee for the privilege, thus killing that market.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

There is another reason in respect of these ludicrously titled "wars on terror.". The status quo always benefits because fear drives people to become entrenched.

    Could this be the future?

At one level you are singing to the choir, but not many are in a position to do so.. if you are in a flat in a city, where are you going to site your little wind turbine or place your solar panel.? Also if you use your bike to commute, it won't be where it's at to charge... Realistically and...

    ebike law changes coming....

Just like since the inventing of coinage, there has been counterfeiting, so there will be hacking and breaking into computers, car controls and now bike controls. Provided it is kept below acceptable limits, the authorities will be satisfied.Say 1% of cyclists get to dongle, then that's 99%...

The "death" of the car, (as we know it)

Its about 50% of the impact, as it will probably last as just as long ,rust and paint wear , battery degradation, interior vinyl and rubber perishing, even in the tyres is not use dependent. Much better to have fewer cars running their socks off and getting replacement parts as needed. None of...

    Fascism returns to Spain

My point was not to argue for it being impossible to hold that referendum rather it was for the argument that if one wanted to hold a referendum one needed to build a broad consensus across other regions also. All my previous posts on this topic were consistent with that viewpoint. To...

    Could this be the future?

That is a fair question. But is answered by the legal definition of heat engines Flecc and I explored it some time ago in the context of a honda generator mounted on the carrier continually charging a battery. His claim essentially was that it could be viewed as production without a licence...

    Could this be the future?

No energy source is safe, hydrogen has the added problem that it's molecules are so small they can work their way through metals, embrittling them... Hydrogen as a fuel has plenty of drawbacks , but the reason it has not yet been in use is that petroleum is still cheaper. The majority of...

    Fascism returns to Spain

The actions of jailing people who are the legitimate elected leaders of a community prior to a fair trial, is wrong and the actions of a weak central government. I don't know the structure of Spanish law, or the way their courts operate, so it is possible that there was no other Remedy in...

It's almost a certainly that the cells are the standard 18650. But why would that battery pack not be amenable to standard mains charging. I would assume that draining the buffer battery would be a last resort. ... I'm not still not convinced of the economic and weight viability of the...

. Not as significant ... the hydrogen will float off into the air being a lighter than air gas and disperse rapidly petrol would pool and The energy source remains concentrated. .. The problem might be significant if there was a major collision of the tour we France hydrogen class in the...
