there is a motor test report on this web page: http://xiongdamotor.en.alibaba.com/custom_page_1/New_Double_speed_Motor.html test 59 shows the best you can get with the 15A controller. ebike.ca shows about 17km per hour on 10% and 100kgs. The Ezee motor gives 15km/h under the same conditions.

yes, that seems quite impossible but I reckon d8veh has ways of pushing motors to their limits The supplied controller has only 6 FETs, xiongda pushed it up to 500W output power, but I reckon with a KU123, it will go much farther. The question is, the KU123 can only moves the motor forward, the...

Which bike for the heavier rider? Wisper, Oxygen, Woosh, RooDog?

@ 18st, you'll need a big fat motor, that rules out the Wisper unless you only ride flat roads.

100kgs, 10% hill, 25.5km per hour (15mph) requires 880W at the wheels. The input power (required of the battery) is = 880W / divided by the yield If you run the motor at 80% efficiency: 1,100W or 40A @ 37V That XD motor may do it.

    Exiting New Things

I thought you already have worked this out in one of your previous posts, by switching the rotational direction of the motor. Still, none of the motor listed on ebike.ca simulator can go up 10% hill at 15mph. If xiongda is willing to supply 20A controller with their XD motor then it should be...

Woosh Scirocco 2 - independent review

sure, Chinese bikes tend to have throttle fitted. I still doubt they will ever match German quality/price ratios if your budget is twice the average. A bike like this Sirocco 2 costs about $600 at the factory gate, but if you have the similar mechanical components like the KTM Lycan (Fox 32...

the xiongda XD (strictly legal, not like badged BPMs) has two internal gears, the higher ratio (8) for climbing hills, the lower ratio (4) for flat roads. Maximum power output is about 500W.Very effective at climbing 10% hills and ideal for light assist. A rocker switch lets you select low or...

Woosh Scirocco 2 - independent review

problem with bottom brackets may have more to do with the type of bottom bracket than the caged bearing. I suspect that the Octalink or ISIS splined BBs (as on European bikes) have much smaller gap between the crank and the bearing than the tapered squared type (as on Chinese bikes), will let...

Woosh Scirocco 2 - independent review

can't say I disagree with you about 'when I want to, not when the bike tells me to' - common issues with Chinese bikes are not so much electrical as mechanical, albeit the spoke breaking issue is also prevalent in European rear hub bikes. Problems like sand in bottom bracket, worn brake pads...

Woosh Scirocco 2 - independent review

spokes break more likely because of poor wheel truing rather than weak material. That does not say much in favour of Chinese bikes but Chinese bikes have more 'issues' than German bikes because one side, you have the Chinese factories that prefer using whatever they already have or can source...

Bosch battery garantee: 2 years, 70% residual capacity, up to 500 cycles. It works out about £1 per charge. For comparison, a Kudos battery works out about 50p per charge.

    Cheap for a reason

you still don't see it. Probably more than 3 quarters of the membership ride Chinese rubbish, Ezee, Kudos, Woosh, Freego, Roodog etc, and also a lot of Bosch bikes fit Kenda rubbish according to you.

    Cheap for a reason

The UPS plane that crashed in 2010 did not transport e-bike batteries. In fact, no notable Lithium battery fire involved e-bike batteries, just laptop batteries. Col, I did not know that Kenda make competition tyres but if you took their money, you should at least do the job you were paid for...

    Cheap for a reason

that's what the bike was sold for but I am not defending that bike. The OP's point was 'Kenda tyres are cheap Chinese rubbish' based on repeated punctures on oldie's bike.

    Cheap for a reason

what's wrong with Kenda tyres? The K1047 on oldie's bike costs £34 a piece on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kenda-Bicycle-1-75-1-95-Mountain-Tires/dp/B00FBCOLDE they are not puncture resistant but not especially cheap. It's about the best tyre for grip on MTBs. The puncture resistant Kendas...

http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/what-is-the-best-value-german-bike-electric-bike.16169/page-3#post-198632 my second hand formula predicted £1181, pretty close to the asking price but now with AVE future still uncertain, I reckon he should accept anything above £1000.
