Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

it's the road surface irregularities and pot holes that I am thinking about. We are talking about a sizeable investment which only makes sense if KB rides 28 miles a day, not 8 miles a day. If KB gives up after 3 months, the resale value is half what she pays for because of the mileage, that...

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

Electrically, the Tasman Classic is excellent. But for 28 miles a day I would buy a model with suspension fork to save my wrists and back. Not too keen on the colour though.

d8veh, it seems that the comfort cruiser is similar to the Oxygen Diva. The Interceptor is much of a challenge to the Neo extreme. comfort cruiser: Motor Brushless Geared Hub Motor on Rear wheel Power Rating 250 Watt Gears & Speeds 7 Speed Shimano Gears and Shimano Chain with matching chain...

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

KB - don't pay any attention to d8veh's and my comments, we are arguing about motors. I say that the £1,495 comfort cruiser has a less powerful motor than the £1900 interceptor. Both are good bikes, I wouldn't buy any of them because I am a miserable old git who counts each penny. Mind you...

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

there are differences of course between models of the same type but it's mostly down to choice of winding - the better quality magnets may help a bit but I rode a bike with the Dapu motor two years ago, compared it against the SWXK, there was no perceptible difference. But if you optimize the...

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

By googling. There are typically only 3 types of rear hub motors: 3kg units like 8-Fun SWX , 4.5kg units like the 8-Fun BPM (Big Powerful Motor) and 6.5kg units direct drive like the Magic Pie. The maximum power you can get out of each motor depends on the battery voltage, the maximum continuous...

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

if you only ride 4 miles there and 4 miles back to/from the tram stop, then the Pedego will do it in style. But something like this £675 folding Zephyr CD may be more suitable. It is slightly ugly but does not attract attention. The crank drive on small 20" wheels will take your weight easily...

    Chinese Straddle Super Bus

the scheme is too impractical for existing roads but may be doable on future roads. It's gimmicky though, not as simple as replacing petroleum powered buses with hydrogen powered buses.

Is a 28 mile round commute too far?

very stylish - very good brakes. the motor looks like a 3kg 8-Fun SWX type, not good for your weight, no suspension: not very comfortable on long rides. Also the standard battery size is not enough, you'll need the upgraded battery.

the bikes are 2013, 2012 models. Guess they still have loads to to sell to make room for the new 2014 models. Does it mean we are going to see a buyers market?

considering an ebike but have concerns about frame size and weight

most bikes from Woosh come with rear rack battery, harder to swing your leg over the rear rack than bikes with battery behind seat post or bottle battery. I would narrow down the list to the £725 Sport TS or the £675 Zephyr CD. Both are much easier to mount and light. The foldable 20" Zephyr CD...
