    Commuting e-bike, most power assist

Ebikes using a throttle with pedal first option is the answer, you don't have to pedal hard or fast. For a dodgy ankle simply lightly rotate the cranks and apply the throttle to give the power you need, any pedalling if needed is ghost pedalling.

    Pendleton Somerby - Battery/Charger

The only way to check is by using a digital meter and take a voltage reading via the battery discharge port, any fully charged reading should be 41.5v - 42v for a 36v nominal battery. Led battery or display lights are a bit gimmicky and shouldn't be relied upon.

    Don't forget your helmet

The relevance is whether cycling or not under certain circumstance's they aren't any good. Personally for most riding they are not of much use, they are if you like to go fast or ride more extremely.

    Advice please B TWIN

The hub label clearly say's 250w. An unusual hub connection but sound and would save motor wire damage that can occur as it enter the hub axle. Trace the connector/cable that connects to it, it will terminate at the controller with the 9 wires.

Yes one would expect them to be all 250w from Btwin, does the motor or bike not have a label/plate ? As mentioned up on one of the posts we need to see the colours of the 9 pin motor cable to cypher them first then adding a controller should be easy with soldering skills. A lot of controllers...

    Advice please B TWIN

If buying from UK via a friend then it is better to buy via ebay or even China via Aliexpress or Topbikekit, If you can't buy from amazon then I would look elsewhere. Nothing is straight forward as you will need to be able to solder some wires together and heat shrink them or be able to make...

    Advice please B TWIN

Your pic of the motor cable connector isn't a std pin layout, so if you are going to think about changing the controller and battery, you will need to cypher the 9 pin outs and what colour goes where. You would have to reuse the main motor cable to the controller and either solder or via...
