    Conversion kits and the law

As Woosh says. A problem arises if the bike or kit controller doesn't have speed restriction, since a 48 volt battery instead of a 36 volt will increase the assist speed by some 33%, breaking the assist speed law. .

    Conversion kits and the law

See my answer above, EN15194 only applies to manufactured bikes, not kits in any way, so attempting to comply isn't valid. .

    Conversion kits and the law

No, nothing missing. Where the complexity comes in is in how the issues are dealt with. The UK sometime combined construction and usage into one law, as it did with the 1983 EAPC regulations. But the EU dealt with them separately for good reasons. The EU deal with construction to allow...

    Conversion kits and the law

It's not online as far as I know, it was an emailed answer in response to the question. Some of us communicated a few times with the DfT during the 2003 to 2013 period when almost all our e-bikes didn't appear to conform to the law. The answer was quite emphatic though, the 10% applies to all...

Skomer Island is probably also Covid-19 free, since it was promptly closed to visitors. .

We have a weekly airliner to and from the Falklands, carrying among others, members of the armed forces, civil servants and Falklanders secondary school children who school in other countries. Plenty of transmission oportunities. .

Now's your chance, there's no way we can afford another Falklands at present, not even a mini one. .

Surgical masks are no good at all for the staff treating Covid-19 patients. They only lightly protect the patient from medical workers such as operating theatre staff. I don't think we have a shortage of them anyway. And respirators may be an irrelevance too, since it's the complex ventilators...

The DfT have confirmed that the UK's own 10% tolerance on all speed limits also applies to e-bike assistance. So up to 17 mph assisted is ok. .

Indeed, I've raised this already in respect of London's high pollution and very high Covid-19 infection rate. .

    Conversion kits and the law

Pre January 2016 e-bikes had no law saying they could have throttles, the law merely omitted how the power was controlled, so any method was ok. The EU law once applied meant the power application was only by pedalling. A pre 2016 e-bike remains a pre 2016 so long as it complies with all of...

It could happen. I can't help thinking that many company bosses will be wondering why they've been providing hugely expensive giant office blocks and sometimes even been subsidising travel, when most functions have been working so well via employee's homes. We could see a new era of mini HQs...

South Korea didn't, they went straight into mass testing at the outset and had hardly any lockdown, their economy little hurt as a result and their control of Covid-19 has been excellent: "Although South Korea isn’t out of danger yet, it reported only 47 new cases on 6th April. To date, there...

In this, copied from the mainland UK law, it's only the first that I've left shown above that applies to post 2015 e-bikes and trikes Here on the mainland most pedelecs over the years haven't been labelled according to the law and there's been no problem. Of course it might be different there...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

As I've posted elsewhere, the Mail has that wrong, they are not on lockdown, just social distancing like everyone else. I see the loosening of the regulations being lead by a combination of health and economic factors: First will be the least vulnerable middle years, allowed back to normal...
