    Lockdown

The authorities are being stupid, they should re-read the fable of "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and let its meaning sink in. The more they insistently repeat their irritating "Stay home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives" message and the more they bully the public, the more the public will get annoyed...

Maybe posties are refusing to handle it because Johnson is infected. ;) .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

As it appeared very quiet at lunchtime I thought I'd try a fourth attempt at a safe exercise walk in my estate. Walking along the 800 metre stretch of road I mentioned above, I saw 18 vehicles and 24 pedestrians which was far quieter than usual but still many interactions. Again I was the...

As sptj says. The Oyster card was a very early contactless card long before the banks caught up. Direct from TfL or from many retail outlets, the card was free but cash could be added to it by the retailer or from a bank account by TfL. Any unused is fully refunded on request. Years ago I...

Good, but it's that monthly collection that's undesirable at present though. Mine is two months worth, better in the present circumstances for avoiding contact. .

    Lockdown

That's really bad, I feel sorry for the crews who are having to suffer those risks. Our bus-tram interchange a couple of miles away apparently also has inadequate mess facilities but our end of route cul de sac has a bus stand close to me where the drivers can take their breaks between runs...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The silly thing is that whenever they bring up all these other factors they dilute the main message, which is separation. Ultimately nothing else matters. But people are clearly not getting the separation message in all the welter of talking about everything else from driving, going out...

The trouble is that still means collecting too frequently with personal interaction. I have my supply for 56 days, Oyster for 84 days now without meeting anyone for that purpose. .

    Lockdown

This news I found particularly alarming since our London bus travel is entirely contactless at the bus doors on a single fixed fare of £1.50 per hour of travel on any buses. No cash travel allowed so no need for any sort of driver and passenger contact/interaction. .

Clearly he's an idiot if he thinks a government can keep people locked indoors for a Summer. They can't, that's an absolute. .

I've always been on 56 days, but all done online with pickup from my nominateed pharmacy. If this continues long term I'll ask for a longer period. By good fortune my prescription was renewed just before the lockdown. .

    Brexit, for once some facts.

That is exactly my point, imprisoning people in their homes for long periods is a dangerous and foolish policy. It could lead to both mental illness and domestic assaults of all kinds. And driving in car is the safest of all ways of leaving a home for avoiding viral spread. The great...

Of course that is wrong since it disobeys the rules on spreading the virus by proximity. But driving a car for a change of view after being trapped indoors does not, it is not even illegal, and it's what I'm defending. No it is not. At no time have the government instructions said someone...

But why? Cars don't carry viruses so long as drivers remain within them. What about all the other traffic, vans, buses, long distance trucks, police cars even. .

Is it though? At 15.23 it's unlikely he was heading into the country to walk etc., more likely just out driving for the change in scenery with perhaps no intention of getting out of the car. I think this whole issue of driving is being dealt with far too heavy handedly by the police. They...

Possible good news for me since I had the BCG inocculation on entering National Service at 18 years old. I still have the white scar it leaves on my left upper arm. This applied to all British males entering National Service between 1951 and 1960. .
