    Returning electric cyclist

Most of us would change the freewheel to a DNP 11/28 or 11/30. You have to take the wheel off and use the correct freewheel tool to get the old freewheel off...

Hope that someone can suggest what I can do ....

The two smaller pcbs are to keep the cells balanced and the other one is the protection board that switches off power when the battery goes flat or if you try to take too much current from it, and it switches off charging when it's full. Show us a picture of the bike. There's no such bike as a...

    Can any one help

assuming a 48v 16 ah battery you have 16 x 48 watt-hours = 768. Divide that by 1000w gives you the time it will last, which is 0.768 hrs or 46 minutes. If you went everywhere at full power and your average speed was 20 mph, it should take you about 15 miles. if you go easy on the throttle, it...

    More control

It doesn't really make sense to buy connectors and solder them on when you can cut the connectors off and solder the wires together, which is less work, cheaper and more reliable. You can't damage the pedal sensor by connecting the three wires the wrong way.

    Help! Electrickery!

Ebikes direct are a very good company. They have been selling electric bikes for many years. They have a very simple procedure if you get any problems with the bike. You only have to put it back in the box, they will come and collect it, fix it and send it back. If anybody doesn't want to comply...

    electric motorbike kits

From the original combination, you need to swap two phase wires plus two hall wires. If you swap say yellow and green phases, then you have to swap either yellow and blue or green and blue hall wires. What batteries does it have? Whatever it has for that price, it/they're not going to last long...

    GEARS AND POWER OUTPUT.

That idea sounds logical, but if you try it, you'll see that it's absolutely diabolical. I saw some systems like that about 10 years ago, but I've not seen it on any modern bike. Some systems, like Bosch, use a combination of torque, bike speed and pedal speed sensors to inform their power...

Hub motor swap from Bafang to MXUS

If you use a motor that's too fast for the power provided to it, it'll take the maximum power that the controller can give nearly all the time. That's very bad for range and it'll overheat the controller. Your controller has 15 amps written on it, which is the maximum current that it can give...

    "Which" magazine best buys

They're not unbiased. If they were, they might have asked on this forum which bikes they should review, and they would have had a totally different list. All bikes tested with a 70kg rider doesn't sound very unbiased to me. Look at the guy in the photo, and surprise surprise, all their...

    GEARS AND POWER OUTPUT.

The gears have no effect on the motor power. The power is regulated by the setting on the LCD control panel. Basically, the panel sets a different electric current limit for each level. Within each level, the amount of current given to the motor also depends on how hard you press on the pedals...

Hub motor swap from Bafang to MXUS

I doubt that you'll be able to use that tester without going to a lot of trouble, and even if you can, it doesn't test the mosfets in the right way. Just do the tests that I detailed above and you will get your answer quickly. Maybe time to build your own super ebike with the MXUS motor. I'd...

    Cargo trike build

I've seen a UK company making those out of recycled laptop batteries from the tip. This tested one only delivered 1100 mah at 1 amp before it cut off. To make an ebike battery out of those cells, you'd need 100, which would weigh 5kg. This is bullshit and completely irrelevant. That Aliexpress...

    Cargo trike build

Do you know somewhere I can by decent 2200mah 18650s for 40p? Look at the price of that battery pack. Maybe you didn't see it.

Hub motor swap from Bafang to MXUS

The bad news is that you've probably ordered the wrong part. Motors are extremely robust and rarely give problems, especially considering what you've described. More likely, you've blown a mosfet or two in the controller. Testing the controller is very straight-forward using a digital...

    Cargo trike build

You can't charge a 22AH battery with a 2 amp charger in 4 hrs, like it says in the advert, neither can you make a 22AH battery out of 40 18650 cells. To build that battery yourself, after deducting the cost of the charger, connectors and other materials, you'd be paying about 75p per cell. The...

    Electric Minimoto help

There's a reference number on the label. Do a Google search for it. That's how I found one that looks identical to that. You've blown the output mosfet/s. If you're any good at soldering, you can just replace it/them, which will be very cheap. Open the box and get the reference numbers off it/them.

Installing pas sensor no lock nut

You can unscrew the bottom bracket a couple of turns to make enough thread for the retaining ring, which you can buy on Ebay for 99p. You will most likely have to flip the magnet disc when you put it on that side. You can grind off up to 3mm from the inside of the pedal arm if there's not enough...

Help! Loud noise coming from bike motor

I've heard that noise twice before. One time was when the disc fixing screws were the wrong length, so reached the rotation rotor inside the case. If you have a disc and have done anything to it recently, then that's the cause. The other time was when a screw came loose deep inside the motor...

    My wheel runs backwards HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We can only tell you how it is. it's up to you what you want to do; however, I think you're going to have some problems with the gears when you put them on the wrong side, which you may or may not find out in the future when you come to fit them. To get the brake off, heat it up until it's just...
