EU trying to impose insurance for E-Bikes

What do you mean? If a country did pass this into law (it would be contrary to EN 15194 which says a pedelec isn't a motor vehicle): - UK residents wouldn't be able to bring their e-bikes on holiday to the continent without insuring them and that holiday insurance would be at a premium price...

How not to cross a street

Try Singapore or Malaysia you probably get jail time or an orange suit and a street sweeper's broom. Germany used to be pretty up tight back in the day.

E-bike disassembly for travel on European trains

On a TGV a bike costs 10 €, you have to reserve. So it isn't a costly option if you are on a simple journey. However if you are doing Eurostar to Paris that is 15€ then another 10€ for Paris - Strasbourg. I wonder what they would say if I rolled up on my trike? Actually I might be doing just...

E-bike disassembly for travel on European trains

Sorry Kate but the SNCF really wants you to pay for your bike's space on the train. Only a folder will fit in the space they have defined as "free". TER (regional trains) have space for bikes but all the others you have to pay.

Is it legal to carry a passenger?

In France passenger under 12 years old. If you aren't being a hooligan the police look the other way when two adults are on a bike. This is for an ordinary bike without a seat for a passenger, a cargo bike is a whole different story even though they did not exist when that bit of French law...

    Gradient of a climb

Now if you drew that to scale you would be less scared :D Around my new flat there are bits of road that look just like your drawing. Haven't tried any yet, will do so when work finishes. On my commute there are a couple of bits that I would be more comfortable on with a 38 tooth chainwheel.

    SO....this arrived tonight

I know, I was being a bit cheeky. All round my new flat are short ramps up to an probably over 20%. Some you don't get a run at so standing on the pedals prevents the motor from bogging down. I did try the 32 tooth chainwheel but it is too low geared for about 95% of my commute, a 38 single...

    Giant Ebike Chainring Improvement Help

I would have tried with the existing mech, they are often conservative with what will work. It is only 6 teeth more. Not as if you were going to a 48 tooth. I wish Bafang had taken a lesson from Yamaha and offset their motors too so that a standard mech would work in a 2 X setup.

    Giant Ebike Chainring Improvement Help

At the moment 11-32. 32:32 will climb 20% and probably more and 15% test hill with minimal rider input. When I move the motor to the trike I will try the same slopes with my wide range 11-40 and a 46 tooth single chainwheel. If it doesn't work I'll put a 10 speed 11-46 on.
