    Battery range increasing

Isn't fitness a wonderful thing? I used to output 150W-160W which put me in the fit category but now I can give up to 200W over longer periods of time. Eventually age will reverse that curve.

Adding a bms to lipo 10s.

Can you charge at 10 Amps (1C)? The other advantage for me of having vanilla LiPo bricks is charging off grid from a 12v battery. This is the view from the 12v battery in question, the solar panel is just to the right... :)

After market bbsxx crank drive gear

I am pretty sure mine are flatter so must be the 6000 model and they work better with my frame. I will get some black ones for the trike because I want to do a proper PAS disk integration this time.

A rare piece of history - Swizzbee

I have a sneaking suspicion they all might have the same ignition code, that is how things were done back in olden times. Oh and you lucky bastard! :p

    Shin protection

https://www.ergotec.de/en/products/pedale/sub/city-trekking-pedale/produkt/ep-1.html Never slipped once since I mounted these, jandals, bare foot, waders, dress shoes... Before these years ago I had the bog standard MTB pedal and bloody shins. Now you may not want to try those pedals off road...

I have a couple of HK Reaktor 200W chargers that I feed with a 540W power supply. Unfortunately they are iCharger clones... OK they are re-branded iChargers and they rock! For half the price.

Windy but it's not that windy?

Burning hot southerly blowing to 20 kts, gusting has diminished somewhat since earlier but still to over 35 kts. The cloud is breaking up and letting through spells of brilliant sunshine.

Torque and gears and design limits. How to calculate ?

I really wanted a nexus 8 (Alfine without disk mount) and the only way I could work it was with a twin chainwheel: - low geared one right on the limit specified by Shimano for the local "hills" - high geared one for flat going And more number crunching made me come to the conclusion that the...

Torque and gears and design limits. How to calculate ?

It is the torque that the gearbox can handle. Or rather the torque it can't handle so 42:16 will have less torque than 42:22 throughout the 8 speeds.

    Tested my helmet today.

This is a good balanced page on the limits of helmet protection from a pro helmet site (USA): https://www.helmets.org/limits.htm If you fall at low speed you want a cushioning full face helmet (doesn't exist). If you crash at high speed your head is the least of your worries. If you are hit by...

    Tested my helmet today.

What a load of old .... The only thing a bike helmet will protect you from is a low speed, low impact shock. If it was capable of better protection professional racers wouldn't die of head injuries but unfortunately they do. In 63 years I have never hit my head in a bike crash and I have had a...

Replace 2 wire motor cutout switch with three wire Minshine in-cable device

Inside the sensor box there is a magnet which "grabs" the steel brake wire and moves with it past a hall sensor.

    Tested my helmet today.

IIRC there was a guy who took his off and had it on the bars one hot sunny stage he crashed on - was that in Italy? Too many years ago. So I was playing safe with my statistics :D

    Tested my helmet today.

I am a bike helmet sceptic. How many professional or amateur bike racers who have died in a crash since helmets are obligatory were wearing a helmet? 100% or close... And a recent recall of trusted brand name helmets made me sit up and take notice too. Do I wear one? Yes: 99% of the time on...
