    Brexit, for once some facts.

Of course he's not the answer, he's not very good at his job, but his predecessor Miliband wasn't the answer either, or Thatcher, or Major, or Blair, or Cameron or May, all doing considerable damage to this country. I just want to use Corbyn for one term to get rail and water back into public...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

It's been admitted we can't withdraw the pound, any country can use any currency on a global market system. No permission is necessary. And we can't stop them having Scottish regiments, it's their call. And so is their wanting to remain in the EU, the main driver for the newly increased wish...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Yet he's still there, outliving three other PMs! I'm biased of course. My constituency was a very marginal one, see-sawing between Tory and Labour with very narrow results for many years. At the time of the previous GE it was held by Tory blue eyed boy Gavin Barwell with 165 vote majority...

how much would petrol need to increase to change driving habits

My point of view wasn't being challenged, some facts were. And I think anyone would think the relentless negativity being expressed was being miserable. .

how much would petrol need to increase to change driving habits

Correct, but I didn't post to the contrary. What I posted is that London's travel subsidies are self funded via TfL now, such as free travel for old and young and discounted fares. Some other local authorities have their own schemes. .

vfr400 has been even quieter, completely absent it seems. Something to do with his prediction of "Tommy Robinson's" success perhaps? .

OK iRider and Amoto65, just carry on as you are, being negative, complaining, doing nothing and attacking anyone or anything that others try to do. Manchester's trams, Andy Burnham, London's congestion charge, Central Government. With those miserable attitudes it's no wonder the North is...

how much would petrol need to increase to change driving habits

"London has free travel for the over 60s because the government cut funding elsewhere?" Rubbish, we subsidise our own fares from our own income, nothing to do with central funding. That's why all our youngsters travel free as well, nothing to do with the government. .

how much would petrol need to increase to change driving habits

Presumably your reading ability is limited, since I've already explained how we suffered the same cuts and steep falls in public transport. And what we did about it. Try reading from the top of this web page to see the outcomes. Then if you still say it doesn't work I can only assume you...

Yes he's a long way from the best, but the unfair over criticism gets boring. Nobody could have done better following the Brexit Vote. Promising to honour the referendum didn't help him did it? But taking the minority Leave position wouldn't have either. Ultimately he did better than Theresa...

how much would petrol need to increase to change driving habits

READ MY POSTS! Particularly the last one on this link. We had a past of painful cuts just like yours. We made the money in the ways described, then used it to subsidise public transport and cycling. You can do the same, but all iRider does is say that doesn't work when it so patently does...

how much would petrol need to increase to change driving habits

I don't know if you read earlier posts, but they show London is no different. At one point of the decline in London's transport we'd dropped to some 4500 buses and other transport systems were failing. But at that low point we got a GLC leader with the imagination to do something about it in...

how much would petrol need to increase to change driving habits

That is the main point, it is meant to make money to subsidise public transport, besides reducing pollution. Deterring congestion is secondary, I wouldn't be exempt from the charge in my electric car if it were primary. It works for everyone because it makes public transport cheaper and...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

I don't consider local elections as totally a party matter, local issues often play a big part and are sometimes dominant. In the 2017 GE Jeremy Corbyn did well, coming from a long way behind in the Miliband era he enormously increased the Labour vote and demolished the Tory majority, forcing...

how much would petrol need to increase to change driving habits

Utter nonsense, London has proved a congestion charge works for everyone. And those who drove into London were not the least able to afford it. Those least able to afford such a charge were already travelling on public transport. Why not be honest and declare you are a car driver who only...

Here's a sample from this site: "On the day the congestion charge was introduced in London, 300 extra buses were added to the Central London bus network to give people an alternative to driving and avert the anticipated mayhem. One year later, Livingstone reported that 29,000 more passengers...
