Raleigh Velo Trail - first impressions

All you need is an old 5v phone charger with the charge connector cut off and carefully monitor the voltage over the short duration of raising the voltage. The cells holders look like they simply part to remove them so try and see, if so an easy peasy way of checking all cells.

A few questions for a fat blokes first kit!

PF cells are ok but the Samsung 29E is far better.

Are there any kits that fit a 110mm rear hub drop out?

Rear hub motors are 135mm or 142mm for ones like the Xiongda.

    Wisper Battery replacement

£300 is a good deal as you know you will get good 10a cells and capacity will likely increase by 33% as well you could end up with 17ah possibly.

    Hi everyone

Those motor halls really need fitting though the new controller might not be compatible, most modern hall sensor hubs /controllers have a minimum of 3 phase wires and 5 or 6 sensor wires. Yours having 3 +3 isn't very compatible, you could try connecting the 3 halls colour to colour with the new...

Hi all , New here on forum .

If you want hub gears whether Nexus/Alfine, Nuvinci or Rolhoff you can only have a mid drive motor or front hub motor or even a friction drive you can't have a rear hub drive.

    Range extenders

Range extenders aren't used that way for ebikes, in general any range extender is physically connected in series to turn a 36v battery in to a 48v one or paralleled voltage wise to become a larger capacity pack. With lithium cells you can't use one to charge another as the voltage has to be...

    Hi everyone

If the issue is when the motor is under load it might be internal, possibly worn planetary gears or worn bearings. Does the motor spin true with no axle play ? Also you haven't said how many wires the motor has. If the motor is square wave then not all controllers work properly if they are for...

    Hi everyone

Lift the wheel and see if it rotates freely if not look to see where the binding/rubbing is and make adjustments. How many wires does the drive motor have ? Brakes wise the levers/reed sensor or wiring may be faulty.

    gtech ebike sport battery catch

How old is the battery, does the power cut out when the led's flash ? If the latching doesn't work then a spring may have broken if it is used to actuate the catch/latch a cheap work around is to use a Velcro strap around the batter/frame to ensure it doesn't come out/off.

Fitting different battery to Gtech citybike

Looking at the GTECH case 20 cells looks like the max that can fit in so 3400/3500mah ones to replace the 2600mah ones, not quite the 10ah your wife's friends have but useful 33% capacity increase. To extend range try and get the wife to ride with no power on level ground, with the wind at her...

Raleigh Velo Trail - first impressions

No harm in opening and checking the 10 cell group voltages, most common fault I would say is one or two cell groups have dipped to about 3v each so BMS will not switch to allow charging. If it is the case then you can manually raise the low cell group voltage to a match the others as near as...

Fitting different battery to Gtech citybike

Over £300 for a silly 5.6ah battery is a joke, probably essential if you break the battery case but for a recell I expect about £140 - £200. I had a softpack 15.6ah pack made up by Jimmy for £250 using the Boston 5200mah/13a cell. If one has a case and good working BMS then a re- cell is a...

Where to buy TSDZ2 - and have i got the right items on my list.

If you fit the throttle and don't use it you really should fit at least one brake cut off to prevent the controller from blowing or motor damage, damp/rain can cause the throttle to short or the sensor/ wiring can develop a fault. If this occurs the throttle will always be on and stopping the...

Raleigh Velo Trail - first impressions

If the system is a generic non CANbus type system then you can use a different battery, swapping out dead cells is a bit pointless if the battery is a good few years old. New cells will have to work harder to prop up the older cells that will be aged and not at their best. Looking at the Raleigh...

A few questions for a fat blokes first kit!

29 rims are usually wider to take larger volume tyres, typically 700c up to 45- 54mm tyres for the 19/21mm rims. 700c drop outs are dependant on the width between the narrowest point of the rear stays and to some extent the front forks. Also confusing with 700c you can fit the slightly smaller...
