    Newbie Questions

Your current 36v controller won't hack it at 48v and the first thing to go will be the main inrush capacitor which is only 50v rated, a 48v battery will be 54.6v fully charge. T09S should be good if you have 1T4 trunk cable, just check that you have 8 pins outs on your existing Julet so you know...

    Newbie Questions

VFR (tufkad/d8veh) has been giving out advice well before I joined some five and a bit years ago and many have used his tried and tested advice without complaint. I haven't yet seen one reply where an irate user has asked for money back, all know that they risk failure and accept the risk is...

    Newbie Questions

The troll reads to much but doesn't actually try any of the theories out, theories and practice are two different worlds. Any one already thinking of over volting or increasing current will or should know that cost will be involved and failure may occur but a bit of common sense with use will...

Have I got too many spacers in?

10 spd set up using original 34t capable derailleur, I added a road link and a 40t 10spd cassette. Front CR is 48t/34t double. Current rear tyre isn't TL capable so caffelatex leaches through tyre wall every 10 weeks or so, waiting for nice weather so I can fit new TL ready tyre outside. Leccy...

    Newbie Questions

Giving a 36v hub full WOT at 48v with a 20a + controller will likely at some stage cause melt down, using and fitting a decent PAS system will alleviate the need to cause melt down as on flatish terrain full WOT isn't needed to maintain max speed. All full WOT does is eat the battery quicker and...

    Newbie Questions

Most hubs will take over volting, more to the point is how much extra current the motor can take. The nylon clutch gears will give before any cooper winding suffers. With the AKM100 about 20a continuous is the limit, my AKM128 has been ok with a 25a controller but then I don't use PAS5 or...

    Newbie Questions

All my bikes with PAS magnet ring have Hollowtech 11 crank sets, it is no obstacle to fitting PAS as is little different to Octalink. There are many threads in the search area for those of us who have easily done it.

    Close passing

No close pass is good but a moton who passes at a slower speed is far more conscious of the affects then the motons who don't give a toss.

Cameras can work and do some times help even with private motons. Recently on CUK forum a cyclist was taken out by an ex copper (she denied all responsibility) due to poor driver overtaking and perception of the road constraints ahead, on viewing the footage even Plod saw nothing wrong and even...

A multi national/logoed vehicle is a companies corporate advertising and some some fleet management take it seriously when a complaint is received of bad driving/close or even and uncomfortable pass. Sainsburys for instance have a clear policy and know it reflects badly on them so any driver is...

    Accessories

Only because they think it is a car that has maybe been hit, otherwise they won't be concerned that it's a bike and will not likely bother to intervene . I still see it as a gimmick, decent locks will be a better investment.

    Accessories

I carry two locks on my town bike, one a 10 mm U lock and another snake type one with the spiral outers that rotate around the inner cable. Cable ones on there own are not worth having and two locks are harder to defeat then one. The seat alarm gizmo is just that a gimmick and not going to stop...

Oxygen eMate: is this a special rear axle nut ?

Sounds like the axle is turn in then drop out, so the drop out must be worn round. Drop outs should be flat so the axle slots in nicely. Care fully use a tight fitting 10mm spanner on the gear side axle and then try and undo the LHS you may need a helper.

Name and shame the super market. If you had taken note of the vehicle reg and reported it to said supermarket, then the driver would likely at least been spoken to about his driving from management following a complaint.

    And another thing, PAS sensor

Topbikekit also sell KT components all will be compatible, just select the right connector. My next build will be with a LCD4, loving it's compactness.

Have I got too many spacers in?

None will come cheap unless you find an old 8 sp mtb you can rob both off, sometimes your local council tip will have scrap bikes set a side. You could look there and offer a £10 or so for a crappy bike...

    And another thing, PAS sensor

Is the sensor rotation direction correct for the Kt controller software in theory it should work. Try rotating the pedal backwards or flipping the sensor & or disc to see if it helps. Also make sure the sensor magnet gap is about 1mm. If all fails use the KT supplied one which works.

I use resin on the front and a semi metallic on the rear.
